Verse Of The Day@biblegateway.com

Psalm 18:1-2 "[Psalm 18] For the director of music. Of David the servant of the LORD. He sang to the LORD the words of this song when the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. He said: I love you, LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold." -

Today's passage is from the New International Version, ©2010.

Notes From Psalm 18

Lord is: rock fortress deliverer refuge shield horn of salvation stronghold… Call to Him be saved… Overwhelmed by enemy distressed… call to the Lord… call to God for help. He will hear your voice. He soared, darkness around Him He comes suddenly, thundering from heaven and His Voice resounds as He scatters the enemy… at the blast of breath from His nostrils, He rescues' you from your powerful enemy. The enemy confronts you in the day of disaster, but the Lord is your support. God deals with us according to our righteousness, to the cleanness of His hands. Be blameless before the Lord, keep yourself from sin. God rewards you according to your righteousness… to faithful be faithful to blameless be blameless to crooked show yourself shrewd… God keeps your lamp burning and turns your darkness into light… His way is perfect… His word flawless, shield to all who take refuge… who is the rock except our God he arms us with strength, makes our way perfect, enables us to stand on the heights, trains our hands for battle, stoops down to make us great. Broaden the path beneath us so our ankles do not turn… the enemies will fall beneath his feet as He arms you with strength for battle, he makes your adversaries bow… You have delivered me from the attacks, make me the head not the tale, The Lord lives praise be to my rock he is the God who avenges me and saves me from my enemies… therefore I will praise you among the nations my savior and redeemer. He gives his kings great victory and shows unfailing kindness to His anointed forever…

"The love of the Lord." - Hosea 3:1

Believer, look back through all thine experience, and think of the way whereby the Lord thy God has led thee in the wilderness, and how he hath fed and clothed thee every day--how he hath borne with thine ill manners--how he hath put up with all thy murmurings, and all thy longings after the flesh-pots of Egypt--how he has opened the rock to supply thee, and fed thee with manna that came down from heaven. Think of how his grace has been sufficient for thee in all thy troubles--how his blood has been a pardon to thee in all thy sins--how his rod and his staff have comforted thee. When thou hast thus looked back upon the love of the Lord, then let faith survey his love in the future, for remember that Christ's covenant and blood have something more in them than the past. He who has loved thee and pardoned thee, shall never cease to love and pardon. He is Alpha, and he shall be Omega also: he is first, and he shall be last. Therefore, bethink thee, when thou shalt pass through the valley of the shadow of death, thou needest fear no evil, for he is with thee. When thou shalt stand in the cold floods of Jordan, thou needest not fear, for death cannot separate thee from his love; and when thou shalt come into the mysteries of eternity thou needest not tremble, "For I am persuaded, that neither death; nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Now, soul, is not thy love refreshed? Does not this make thee love Jesus? Doth not a flight through illimitable plains of the ether of love inflame thy heart and compel thee to delight thyself in the Lord thy God? Surely as we meditate on "the love of the Lord," our hearts burn within us, and we long to love him more.

My Thoughts By His Holy Spirit About This Verse! AWE GOD!

AWE-GOD! I am grateful Lord God! So Grateful To You! I am so grateful for Your love, an infinite love that is always Omnipresent.

Surely as we meditate on "the love of the Lord," our hearts burn within us, and we long to love him more. Charles Spurgeon

I love how he put that…. it hits me in the spot of my growth where I am learning to develop my AWE-GOD. So true! The more you develop your awe and the more you are grateful to God-the brighter the love light of God burns in you!

Unholy Accolades  By Boyd Bailey

Churches are not created to make everyone feel good, but to lead them to faith in Christ and holy living.
Furthermore, it is important how the messenger delivers the message, not with a holier-than-thou disposition, but in a spirit of compassion and humble boldness. Followers of Jesus are not out to intentionally offend and attack those who embrace untruth or a worldly way of living. Instead, we are to speak the truth in love and trust God with how the people respond. Do not be shy about your convictions, but do so with godly grace.

"So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner. Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God" (2 Timothy 1:8).

Enemies of the cross are enemies of those who daily bear their cross for Christ's sake. But we must engage the enemy in prayer and through spiritual warfare. The war is not won in the headline of a newspaper or in a debate on national television—the war is won as followers of Jesus flood heaven with faithful petitions and engage people with loving truth. The goal is not to win an argument, but to live a life worthy of the gospel.

"For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ" (Philippians 3:18).

Do not go looking for trouble—but when it arrives—look it firmly in the face by faith and speak the truth. Some will sneer, some will seethe in anger, some will slander, but Jesus will smile. Followers of Jesus who are different—make the most difference. An attractive life full of Christ's character is counter-cultural, but points people to Him.

"But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ's triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere. For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. To the one we are an aroma that brings death; to the other, an aroma that brings life. And who is equal to such a task? Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, as those sent from God" (2 Corinthians 2:14-17).

My Thoughts By His Holy Spirit About This! AWE GOD!

God teaches us by His Holy Spirit as we stay aligned in Followship of Him. It is the teachable, that God uses the most to share His life with! To be teachable, you must have a servants attitude: completely-willess and sincerely-humble. Judgment is Sure ~ Joel 1:1-20

Read Joel 1:1

  • Who is the most important person you've heard speak in person?
  • Why was/is this person important?
  • What was the message?
  • How did you or the people in the audience respond?
  • It's very easy for us to take lightly the phrase "the Word of the Lord." Who is more important to listen to?
  • Have you grown casual in your listening to the Lord's words?
  • Ask the Lord to give you the attitude to pay careful attention to His words to you and to have the appropriate response.

Joel 1: 1-20 THE WORD of the Lord that came to Joel the son of Pethuel.2 Hear this, you aged men, and give ear, all you inhabitants of the land! Has such a thing as this occurred in your days or even in the days of your fathers?3 Tell your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation.4 What the crawling locust left, the swarming locust has eaten; and what the swarming locust left, the hopping locust has eaten; and what the hopping locust left, the stripping locust has eaten.5 Awake, you drunkards, and weep; wail, all you drinkers of wine, because of the [fresh] sweet juice [of the grape], for it is cut off and removed from your mouth.6 For a [heathen and hostile] nation [of locusts, illustrative of a human foe] has invaded My land, mighty and without number; its teeth are the teeth of a lion, and it has the jaw teeth of a lioness. 7 It has laid waste My vine [symbol of God's people] and barked and broken My fig tree; it has made them completely bare and thrown them down; their branches are made white. 8 Lament like a virgin [bride] girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth [who has died].9 The meal or cereal offering and the drink offering are cut off from the house of the Lord; the priests, the Lord's ministers, mourn.10 The field is laid waste, the ground mourns; for the grain is destroyed, the new juice [of the grape] is dried up, the oil fails.

    My Thoughts About These Verses:

Joel is telling the people, the aged-the ones in charge of others- tell your children- let them tell their children- He is saying open up the communication lines to God, to each other. It looks like famine and drought has come to the land and I wonder too if it is not also spiritual famine and spiritual drought. Lament I think is his way of saying repent- change your ways! Interesting the use of the ground mourns to me that is what famine in the Holy Ground of your heart would look like. The new juice is dried up… spiritual famine again I wonder if that also describes, that… the Holy Spirit is sometimes referred to as oil and maybe the implies that the Holy Spirit is not alive or heard in them anymore. Spiritually, I see our country in this kind of a situation right now and literally, I think we are headed there.

Joyce Meyer commentary from amplified bible

IN modern day language, the basic message of the book of Joel is: Straighten up! Joel wrote during difficult days, a time when the entire land of Judah suffered under a massive locust plague, in which the crops failed, livestock died, and people perished. Joel interpreted this destruction as God's judgment and declared that to the people. Joel went on to urge the people to repent and encourage them by telling them God wanted to bring restoration to their devastation. The most familiar passage in Joel is God's promise of restoration in Joel 2:25, 26 " And I will restore or replace for you the years that the locust has eaten…" Whatever has been lost in your life, I pray that the book of Joel will remind you that God is God of restoration, He is able to restore what has been lost or stolen from you.

    My Thoughts About These Verses:

I love that because sometimes we think, I have lost too much, I will never be able to come back from this… but we can't foresee what God can do, we have to pick ourselves up, trust Him and move on, not from our lack, but from our faith in the great restorer! When we are recovering from a bad situation, whether like us, the locust has eaten our finances and it feels like we can't recover from it, we now have to be careful we don't make decisions based on our lack and not based on our faith in God our Restorer. We have to make our decisions by His Holy Spirit and not based on our lack of finances. Be led by God, no matter what your situation looks like, obey Him! He's Got It! He is a g8t Restorer!

11 Be ashamed, O you tillers of the soil; wail, O you vinedressers, for the wheat and for the barley, because the harvest of the field has perished.12 The vine is dried up and the fig tree fails; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple or quince tree, even all the trees of the field are withered, so that joy has withered and fled away from the sons of men.13 Gird yourselves and lament, you priests; wail, you ministers of the altar; come, lie all night in sackcloth, you ministers of my [Joel's] God, for the cereal or meal offering and the drink offering are withheld from the house of your God.

    My Thoughts About These Verses:

Once again, I truly believe he is speaking to ministers- Christians – the lack of God's spirit has brought a poverty in the land, a spiritual poverty and the people God wanted to reach, have not been reached. Wow… this really speaks volumes to me… be ashamed tillers of the soil… wow! Are we headed this way to a society without God, because this is what it would look like. We must be tillers of the soil, vinedressers who are getting prepared to harvest for God. God's favor is withheld, God's provision is withheld, we must repent and fully turn back to God.

14 Sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land in the house of the Lord, your God, and cry to the Lord [in penitent pleadings].15 Alas for the day! For the day of [the judgment of] the Lord is at hand, and as a destructive tempest from the Almighty will it come. 16 Is not the food cut off before our eyes, joy and gladness from the house of our God?17 The seed [grain] rots and shrivels under the clods, the garners are desolate and empty, the barns are in ruins because the grain has failed.18 How the beasts groan! The herds of cattle are perplexed and huddle together because they have no pasture; even the flocks of sheep suffer punishment (are forsaken and made wretched).19 O Lord, to You will I cry, for the fire has devoured the pastures and folds of the plain and the wilderness, and flame has burned all the trees of the field.20 Even the wild beasts of the field pant and cry to You, for the water brooks are dried up and fire has consumed the pastures and folds of the wilderness and the plain.

    My Thoughts About These Verses:

This could be us if we don't turn back to the Lord. The sins of our nation will cause all of us to suffer.

The response to this can only be repentance, asking God for forgiveness and changing the direction of our hearts to fully face our God!

    Read Joel 1:2-4

  • Instructing the family has always been a primary method of passing on the things of the Lord (Deuteronomy 6:6-7). These teachings of the Lord were to be passed to the children and were mostly positive experiences of God's promises. But Joel is now warning that there is a sober reality about future events of God's judgment. What emotions would the leaders of God's people and the parents of God's family be experiencing?
  • How do you think these emotions would affect their teaching?
  • Knowing that there will be a future, serious, and complete accounting to God for all man, how should that affect our message to those around us?

    My Thoughts About These Verses:

Hosea 12:6 Therefore return to your God! Hold fast to love and mercy, to righteousness and justice, and wait [expectantly] for your God continually!

    Amplified Bible

This verse says exactly what I would be tweeting and talking up! Return to God- Turn In The Direction of God To Fully Face God! Cling to God, Dig Your Roots Deeply In His Love! Then my favorite Psalm 62:5 Develop a willessness towards your wants by every day, placing your expectations in God's hands, leaving them and waiting submissively for His will, His purposes to be set in play in your life. The message probably would include, do everything you can to do what is right! Make the right choices, not by your will power, but out of a powerfully connected life to Jesus Christ, to the Holy Spirit and unto the Father God! Stay in constant conversation with God's Word, His Holy Spirit and Listen To Him 1st!

Do everything right! Choice by choice not by your will power but by the Holy Spirit of God in you!

Stay in constant conversation W/God's Word-His Holy Spirit… Listen To Him 1st!

    Read Joel 1:5-13

  • Normally drunkards laugh, with no concern for what goes on around them, but now they should wail. How is the attack of the locust compared to the attack of the locusts?
  • The production of wine represented one of the prominent symbols of God's blessing on His people. What are the prominent symbols of God in our society and what should be our concern for these symbols?

    My Thoughts About These Verses:

I think that that kind of destruction, where the masses are so affected, a destruction that even reaches the soul of a drunkard, had to be really bad. It hits the spirit of even those who are in apathy, that is how bad it is. I think about our country and I can see that the locusts are eating away at our freedom as this country moves away from God, away from His favor…. I think the more we turn away from God, the more we disobey His laws, the more the locust are eating away the foundation of our freedom and we are going to wake up one day and our freedom is going to be destroyed and only God will be able to restore it. The reputation of our country is growing dim and dark as God's favor is being removed, our super power image is being tarnished. Lawlessness, lack of respect towards one another, extreme human willfulness, joblessness, housing market collapse, homosexuality and minority interests groups are running the press, making a small voice seem very loud… freedom is tarnishing….

Luke 5:35 "(A)But the days will come; and when the bridegroom is taken away from them, then they will fast in those days."

    Matthew 17:19-21

Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, "Why could we not drive it out?" 20And He said to them, "Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, (A)if you have faith the size of (B)a mustard seed, you will say to (C)this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and (D)nothing will be impossible to you. 21["[a](E)But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting."]

    New American Standard Bible (NASB)Copyright © 1960, 1962, 1963, 1968, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1975, 1977, 1995 by The Lockman Foundation

    Read Joel 1:14, Luke 5:35, Matthew 17:19-21

  • Fasting represents an appropriate response to a situation that is beyond our control and may have the potential to be devastating. Fasting should always be a time to not only consecrate oneself from the things of this world but should also involve the pursuit of God Himself through prayer. Have you considered a time of fasting for a situation that needs God's mercy and grace?
  • Talk to a trusted friend about the situation and discuss the possibility of seeking the Lord through a time of fasting and prayer.

    My Thoughts About These Verses:

To me fasting depletes the will first, makes your spirit weak-willed. Fasting is a great way to starve your will and create a willessness that helps you see with clarity the Kingdom purposes God has Sovereignly put in motion and join in the flow of agreement with God. Our independent will thinks we can fix things our way, but fasting sways those will powered thoughts, emotions and passions to take a second seat to God's heart-passion-will! I believe that things are impossible for us and God needs to sit our will down, so we can catch the flow of His Will, His Power, His Purposes at play! Fasting helps us to move outside of our dependence upon fleshly will-power to dependency led by His Holy Spirit.

    Read Joel 1:15-20

  • The Day of the Lord will be a great time of turmoil, destruction, and pain. Specifically it is a day in which the Lord intervenes to judge His enemies. What was the nature of Joel's prayer in v. 19?
  • At the very least his prayer is honest and emotional. What does that say about how we should pray?
  • How should known or potential consequences of God's judgment in your life, family, community, or country affect your prayers?
  • Bring this perspective into your prayer life.

O Lord, to You will I cry, for the fire has devoured the pastures and folds of the plain and the wilderness, and flame has burned all the trees of the field.20 Even the wild beasts of the field pant and cry to You, for the water brooks are dried up and fire has consumed the pastures and folds of the wilderness and the plain.

    My Thoughts About These Verses:

Joel was crying out of the desperation of the situation, seeing nothing left and no way out of the destruction. He did not try to fix anything, he just cried out to God, he knew restoration was beyond his human ability. He cried out to the One Who Could Restore. I would cry out for mercy, I do cry out for mercy! I would cry out to the only ONE WHO could restore what the locust had eaten, what the judgement had brought forth. God is the Restorer and we need to cry out to Him when all is lost, put all our hopes and expectations in Him. He is the Restorer!

    My Thoughts About These Verses:

    talk it up! twitter

In these times, restoration of our finances is beyond us, we need to cry out to THE ONE who is The Restorer, Jesus Christ!

Put all your hope, trust, belief, expectations in Jesus Christ, He can restore what this economy has eaten!

Desperate situations with no way out, calls for a dangerous faith with knees to the ground, digging roots deeper in Christ Jesus!

    Kimberly, are you on empty?

Isaiah 57:15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

I've heard so many Christians ask, "How can I get more of the Holy Spirit?" As if the Holy Spirit is some kind of power or force that we can control or weild. What we should really be asking is, "How can the Holy Spirit have more of me?"

We cannot control this power from on high. If we could, then we could be led to pride and strut around as if we're some kind of "Super Christian".

But if we recognize that the Holy Spirit is a Divine Person -- and that this Person is actually willing to live in us, we'd greatly be humbled! We must be very honored that the Spirit of God would inhabit these corrupt vessels of ours and more importantly that He would even consider using us!

Kimberly, it's only when we empty ourselves that we truly become filled! Let's empty ourselves of our selfish ambitions and desires today and allow ourselves to become broken before the Lord. We need to be truly filled with God's Power if we're going to impact the world for Him! There's SOOOOOO much work to be done!!

"But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble." - Psalm 59:16

Notes From Listening To Psalm 59:16:

Deliver me… from enemies… protect from those who rise up… deliver me from evil doers… save me from blood thirsty men… I have done no wrong, yet they wait to attack me… rouse yourself to punish the nations… show no mercy to wicked traitors… You laugh at what they spew from their lips… You are my fortress my loving God, God will go before me and gloat over those who slander me… sins of their mouth, let them be caught in their pride, curses and lies will consume them till they are no more… God rules to the ends of the earth… I will sing of your strength in the morning, of your love, for you are my fortress my refuge in time of trouble… I sing praise to You my loving God

Psalm 94 ~ The Message Bible 12-15

How blessed the man you train, GOD, the woman you instruct in your Word, Providing a circle of quiet within the clamor of evil, while a jail is being built for the wicked. Unredeemed By Selah

My Heart Thoughts From This Song:

Life breaks and falls apart- But we know these are places where grace is soon to be so amazing. When anything that is shattered is laid before the Lord, just watch and see it will not be unredeemed. And every life that gave up hope, we live in the shadow of the fall, but the cross says these are all places where grace is… it may be unfulfilled, it may be unrestored, just watch and see it will not be unredeemed… It may be unfulfilled, it may be unrestored, but you never know the miracle the Father has in store… Isaiah 43:1

QUOTES THAT INSPIRE GROWTH AND CHANGE

When God would have us die to self, he always touches the tenderest spot...

Francois Fenelon

My Heart Thoughts From This

The places of our heart that are tender, we keep locked up by our will and when God opens the door that no man can keep shut, it breaks our will and creates in us a broken spirit where God can work His miraculous heart miracles, heal and restore! Willessness is a key to inner healing. Being willing to sit in the Potter's Chair as He touches your life shaping you in ways you are not comfortable with. Willessness is being responsive clay to the touch of the Masters Hand!

Holy Spirit Compelled

"And now, compelled by the Holy Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there." Acts 20:22

Sometimes you are compelled by the Holy Spirit. It is an undeniable and internal call to move forward in faith. You may not even know the complete details of what will follow in the future. In fact, you probably will not understand completely what God is up to, but you follow Him anyway, trusting that He knows best. To be compelled by the Holy Spirit means you must do it. In your heart you know you will be disobedient if you do not follow this new and sometimes uncertain direction. It is exciting and scary at the same time. However, these simultaneous emotions need not deter you; rather, use this newfound energy to accelerate your faith to the next level. This clarity in direction is what you have been seeking from God and in your sometimes broken and tearful petitions. So, if He is compelling you to attend graduate school, go for it. If He is compelling you to have another child, then say yes to this new opportunity for life. If He is urging you to give at new faith-stirring levels of your time and money to His Kingdom, then move quickly. There may be one country overseas where He is calling you to be a lightning rod of Kingdom transformation. Do not shrink back with fear and trepidation. Instead, trust Him with the resources and the relationships that will rise to the occasion. Your increase in faith will do the same for others. Where the Holy Spirit leads, He produces results way beyond your ability to accomplish. Indeed, your new destination may not be a safe place. It may even be hostile to you and what you stand for. However, God can still be trusted. The seeds of your service will not go unattended by the Holy Spirit. He waters, cultivates and harvests where the Word of God has been planted and nurtured. A life compelled by Christ is courageous and content!

You are "in the zone" when you are compelled by the Holy Spirit. This is a window of opportunity that cannot be denied. Seize this God-moment. You will look back and be amazed that the Holy Spirit chose you for this eternal endeavor. Your humility and gratitude will drive you to your knees in praise and adoration for your heavenly Father's blessing which is beyond measure.

This is the fruit of a Holy Spirit-compelled life lived by faith. You become a woman overwhelmed by the goodness and greatness of God. Your love for people is extraordinary because God has loved you in His supernatural manner. The Holy Spirit compels you to more life-changing results on earth because you are more surrendered in obedience to heaven's agenda. This compelling drama is beautiful and fun to watch.

A life compelled by the Holy Spirit cannot be stopped. Death may cause the body to cease from functioning, but the influence remains and may even intensify. Wow! Wooed by the Holy Spirit! Called by the Holy Spirit! And compelled by the Holy Spirit! Life is too short to not live with this compelling vision and tension. It is the tension of living by faith in Christ. Follow the Holy Spirit's compelling lead. He is with you and for you. He is at your destination in His revealing power. Do not recoil from this rendezvous with radical faith and obedience!

My Thoughts About This:

This is exactly where I believe I am growing in my walk with The Holy Spirit. I know He wants me to listen and obey even if I don't understand. He checks my spirit often and I don't listen because it is something I can't rationally understand. He has been showing me various times when I have not listened and He was trying to help me, safe me from something. Yesterday, I got up to go to my bible study, something that is good, something I enjoy and something that I am growing from. The Holy Spirit checked me and said, do not go today. I was like… WHAT? I don't understand, it is just a bible study. I went. I got stuck behind an accident for a long time and my car overheated. I had to go home. What was all that about? I could not figure it out! Then my husband asked me to go to lunch with him, so I did and we met a friend of his and I knew immediately it was a divine appointment. I wish I had listened. God had a plan and I could have saved myself a lot of discomfort if I had listened straight off. I am hoping to learn that kind of obedience, where I listen to that still small voice, even when I don't understand Why… this is truly developing my willessness, which I know the Holy Spirit is working on in me this year, shaping me into a complete willessness, a total obedience to His Voice, no matter what I think, want or feel!

Kimberly, Good things come to those who WAIT!

James 5:8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

We want what we want and we want it now!

M.H. Lount taught that "God's best gifts come slowly. We could not use them if they did not. Many a man, called of God to... a work in which he is pouring out his life, is convinced that the Lord means to bring his efforts to a successful conclusion. Nevertheless, even such a confident worker grows discouraged at times and worries because results do not come as rapidly as he would desire. But growth and strength in waiting are results often greater than the end so impatiently longed for. Paul had time to realize this as he lay in prison. Moses must have asked, 'Why?' many times during the delays in Midian and in the wilderness. Jesus Himself experienced the discipline of delay in His silent years before His great public ministry began."

Kimberly, perhaps you've been waiting on something for a long time and you're weary. You're not alone! Let's ask the Lord to renew our hearts and desires today, and give us a fresh infilling of strength to wait on His perfect timing. Good things come to those who WAIT!

My Thoughts About This:

How true is that!!! For so long I was in fellowship with my wants and not in Followship of my God! I had no patience or self control when I was fellowshipping with my wants. When things did not go exactly how I planned, it blew the emotional cork off my short fused temper! I would get so frustrated, so angry and that always led to an impulsive act that I later would regret and repent over!

But growth and strength in waiting are results often greater than the end so impatiently longed for!

My Thoughts About This:

I just love this sentence, it packs a whole lot of light in a place that has been very dark in my life. Waiting! I realize now that being in fellowship with my wants was at the core of my inability to wait, my impulsive negative reaction to changes that were not in the direction I had set my will to. Followship and Fellowship had been flip flopped in my the line of my life priorities and this has caused a lot of friction to my Holy Alignment with God. This last trial truly flip-flopped my life to the right alignment of Followship 1st. When I follow God first, He works all the wants of my life out so much better than I could ever hope for or even imagine for. He does things with an eternal edge that leaves a lasting impression on my conscious, character and circumstances!

My Thoughts About This:

M.H. Lount taught that "God's best gifts come slowly" I love what he said about the truth is that the Lord does mean to finish what He starts in us. He started, has put in His best effort with the purpose of a successful completion!

charles spurgeon devotional

"Therefore, brethren, we are debtors." - Romans 8:12

As God's creatures, we are all debtors to him: to obey him with all our body, and soul, and strength. Having broken his commandments, as we all have, we are debtors to his justice, and we owe to him a vast amount which we are not able to pay. But of the Christian it can be said that he does not owe God's justice anything, for Christ has paid the debt his people owed; for this reason the believer owes the more to love. I am a debtor to God's grace and forgiving mercy; but I am no debtor to his justice, for he will never accuse me of a debt already paid. Christ said, "It is finished!" and by that he meant, that whatever his people owed was wiped away forever from the book of remembrance. Christ, to the uttermost, has satisfied divine justice; the account is settled; the handwriting is nailed to the cross; the receipt is given, and we are debtors to God's justice no longer. But then, because we are not debtors to our Lord in that sense, we become ten times more debtors to God than we should have been otherwise. Christian, pause and ponder for a moment. What a debtor thou art to divine sovereignty! How much thou owest to his disinterested love, for he gave his own Son that he might die for thee. Consider how much you owe to his forgiving grace, that after ten thousand affronts he loves you as infinitely as ever. Consider what you owe to his power; how he has raised you from your death in sin; how he has preserved your spiritual life; how he has kept you from falling; and how, though a thousand enemies have beset your path, you have been able to hold on your way. Consider what you owe to his immutability. Though you have changed a thousand times, he has not changed once. Thou art as deep in debt as thou canst be to every attribute of God. To God thou owest thyself, and all thou hast--yield thyself as a living sacrifice, it is but thy reasonable service. Charles Spurgeon

My Thoughts About This:

Followship is not about owing Jesus anything, it is about loving Him, being His as a living sacrifice out of love and gratitude because He is my justification and even though I change like a yo-yo up and down with my human emotions, His love for me does not change. Even though my growing is not without stumbling into sin, He preserves my eternal life by His sacrificial blood. I hold my way in this life because of His Holy Spirit, Who in my followship is my Way-Maker. I am no longer in debt to the Father God, justice has happened through Jesus Christ, yet I place myself willingly in the debt of God's Divine Sovereignty of reaching past my sin to Jesus so I could be changed with every attribute of Father God written upon my heart through Followship of Him!

I have been justified by God! Just As If I Never Sinned! No longer in debt to sin!

I am growing, yet not without clumsily stumbling into sin… thankfully Jesus preserves my eternal life as I work out my salvation in growth spurts of learned righteousness!

Worthy News Brief @worthyemail.com

Kimberly, are you trapped? Philippians 4:11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

Charles Swindoll wrote about these men who bring in animals from Africa for American zoos. They say that one of the hardest animals to catch there is the ringtailed monkey. For the Zulus of that continent, however, it's simple. They've been catching this agile little animal with ease for years.

The method the Zulus use is based on knowledge of the animal. Their trap is nothing more than a melon growing on a vine. The seeds of this melon are a favorite of the monkey. Knowing this, the Zulus simply cut a hole in the melon, just large enough for the monkey to insert his hand to reach the seeds inside. The monkey will stick his hand in, grab as many seeds as he can, then start to withdraw it. This he cannot do. His fist is now larger than the hole. The monkey will pull and tug, screech and fight the melon for hours. But he can't get free of the trap unless he gives up the seeds, which he refuses to do. Meanwhile, the Zulus sneak up and nab him.

There's a pretty clear moral to this story, wouldn't you say? If we really want to be free, we must let go of the things we love. The more we hold on to our earthly possessions, the more frustrated we will get and eventually, we will be entrapped.

Kimberly, let's let go of the worldly things we've been holding on to. God has much greater things for us to be doing than sitting here with our fists in a melon!

QUOTES THAT INSPIRE GROWTH AND CHANGE

The really important thing in life is not the avoidance of mistakes, but the obedience of faith. By obedience, the man is led step by step to correct his errors, whereas nothing will ever happen to him if he doesn't get going. -- Paul Tournier

Pastor Yolanda: Http://aintathatgoodnews.blogspot.com/

1 John 5:1-5 (NRSV)

God's children obey God's commandments

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the parent loves the child. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. For the love of God is this, that we obey his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome, for whatever is born of God conquers the world. And this is the victory that conquers the world, our faith. Who is it that conquers the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

My Thoughts About These Verses:

Great Scripture! Thanks! I needed that today! God is working some things out in me this year! Obedience=Willessness! Sometimes I think one goes with the other and the other does not go without the one! Obedience to God is shaped by our willessness and that alone comes by the strength of the Holy Spirit in us. Laying down our will which is closely tied to our human condition, must be a daily occurrence. I find my first step out of bed is down! Yes down! Knees to the ground! When I bow down to God in AWE of Him, out of respect-reverence for WHO He Is, my will stays down and my passion is ignited by my AWE-GOD to obey Him, love Him with excellence in my next step. I believe without developing your AWE-GOD, you will stumble over your will all day long, even though saying yes to God is sometimes moment by moment, it is nice to not have to stumble through each moment but to stand through them choice by choice being led by your reverent AWE, respectful-humility and submissive-obedience! I totally love what this scripture says about his commandments not being burdensome, the unnecessary heavy burden I carry throughout my day is most of the time, my will. In 2011 I was determined to change that. The Holy Spirit spoke to me and showed me that my first step up in the morning should be down. So, each morning I have bowed down to God, settled my AWE of Him, repositioned myself from fellowship with my will to followship of God, so far… it has been a great adventure, I find that I am less and less tripping over my will and more and more… following after God! Cool! Give it a try… take your 1st step down, knees to the ground! AWE-GOD!

********************************************************************************

QUOTES THAT INSPIRE GROWTH AND CHANGE

Our business is to love what God would have us do. He wills our vocation as it is: let us love that, and not trifle away our time in hankering after other people's vocation.

Francis de Sales

My Thoughts About This:

Basically what You have been teaching me Holy Spirit is You are my vocation/occupation, it begins and ends in You. I have a Kingdom Trade, it is learning and being FOLLOWSHIP! My occupation/vocation has been misaligned. I need to have a Holy Alignment with You. I need to keep my heart undivided and You need to be the all of my everything. You need to be my first and constant conversation and have the last word in every discussion we have. Willessness, Humility and Dependence are the tools of my Kingdom Trade! Jesus, it is You I must learn to pursue 1st and by Your Holy Spirit, I am growing and learning how to stay in Holy Alignment with my Advocate, The Father God! He has always been for me, so much so that He sent Jesus to die for me, when I did not deserve it, then in the abundance of His Grace, My Father God left me with His Holy Spirit, so I would never walk alone, never be without Godly Wisdom, Direction or Provision. The Triune God is Whom I need to be in Holy Alliance with and this is my 1st profession, occupation, vocation in this life and out of the pursuit and development of this relationship, my heart grows-glows-goes!

Notes From Jeff Deyo On Worship

God's Presence is in relationship; discipline yourself to spend time with Him.

My feet naturally move when there is music. 1 Corinthians 9:24 In a race everyone runs, but only one gets the prize… all athletes practice strict discipline… discipline my body like an athlete training it to do what it should do… Discipline yourself to take time, leave space for God… don't be in a hurry, pick songs that will linger in your spirit. Make a song that is about God to God… make it more personal…

Worship should be intimate, you should be saying-singing to God… Engage your heart in a real way!

Love and worship is a two way relationship- God loves us Zehaniah 3:17

Every believer should have a time of worship in private!

Psalm 119:164 He praised God seven times a day… dancing by yourself humbles your flesh… worship cultivates intimacy in your life

My Thoughts

Omnipresent Reality Check! Are you worshipping God in a whole-hearted way that connects you heart-to heart and spirit-to spirit!

Music is so awesome, yet God's Presence in centered in Your relationship with Him 1st!

My Thoughts About This:

Leave space for God in your life- develop Your God-relationship- Your AWE-GOD!

To worship is to quicken the conscience by the holiness of God, to feed the mind with the truth of God, to purge the imagination by the beauty of God, Temple

Psalm 29:2 1 Chronicles 16:29 Bring an offering…

Worthship… it literally means… Greek proskeuneo

Kiss the hand of one in a token of reverence, also by kneeling or prostration to pay homage…

  1. Worship of repentance 2 Samuel 12:22-23

Genuine spiritual worship= Psalm 51

My Thoughts About This:

Going through the motions is not worship, worship is growing in relationship with God heart to heart

Psalm 66:18-19 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me; 19 But certainly God has heard me; He has given heed to the voice of my prayer

My Thoughts About This Verse:

We need to come to God in prayer, after we have confessed all of our sins, and prepared our hearts in humble-purity! Always approach God with a purity of heart in respect of His Holiness

Jeremiah 33:2-3 Thus says the Lord Who made [the earth], the Lord Who formed it to establish it--the Lord is His name:3 Call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, fenced in and hidden, which you do not know (do not distinguish and recognize, have knowledge of and understand).

My Thoughts About This Verse:

Call out to God by Name! God's names are so powerful and the different names and what they mean develop an AWE-GOD in us, a respect for God that carries out from our heart to our prayer to Him! Know God By Name!

Matthew 6:6-13 But when you pray, go into your [most] private room, and, closing the door, pray to your Father, Who is in secret; and your Father, Who sees in secret, will reward you in the open .7 And when you pray, do not heap up phrases (multiply words, repeating the same ones over and over) as the Gentiles do, for they think they will be heard for their much speaking. [I Kings 18:25-29.]8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.9 Pray, therefore, like this: Our Father Who is in heaven, hallowed (kept holy) be Your name.10 Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.11 Give us this day our daily bread.12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven (left, remitted, and let go of the debts, and have given up resentment against) our debtors.13 And lead (bring) us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

My Thoughts About This Verse:

Pray to the Father God out of the secret place of your heart. Pray from your heart, not in a religious way with a prayer that means nothing to you and is empty repetitious religiosity. God is relational! When you pray, always talk to God respectfully, with a heart of thanksgiving. Ask for your needs, not your wants. It is good to come to God with a clear conscious and a pure heart, so ask Him to purify your heart and confess your sins to Him. Whatever the day is at hand, you will need God, You will need His strength and guidance! Ask Him!!!

Philippians 4:6 Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.7 And God's peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus

My Thoughts About This Verse:

Be confident in God's ability to provide what you exactly what you need to help yourself and help others. Come to Him first with a grateful, humble heart in total AWE-Respect of Who He is. Be definite when you ask Him, yet be willess, completely submitted to what He wants for you.

Hebrews 4:15-16 For we do not have a High Priest Who is unable to understand and sympathize and have a shared feeling with our weaknesses and infirmities and liability to the assaults of temptation, but One Who has been tempted in every respect as we are, yet without sinning.16 Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God's unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it].

My Thoughts About This Verse:

Fearlessly, Confidently, Boldly come to God to find His Grace-His Strength-His Wisdom For Every Need! Stay In Constant Conversation With God!

James 4:3 3 [Or] you do ask [God for them] and yet fail to receive, because you ask with wrong purpose and evil, selfish motives. Your intention is

My Thoughts About This Verse:

This comes right to the point…and your intention is? And your motive for this prayer is?

James 5:16 Confess to one another therefore your faults (your slips, your false steps, your offenses, your sins) and pray [also] for one another, that you may be healed and restored [to a spiritual tone of mind and heart]. The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].

My Thoughts About This Verse:

We need to pray earnestly with our whole hearts in submission to God's will. When we live our lives before God and with God in the right way, making good choices, doing the things that will glorify God, He makes our prayers powerful.

1 John 5:14-15 And this is the confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him: [we are sure] that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement with His own plan), He listens to and hears us.15 And if (since) we [positively] know that He listens to us in whatever we ask, we also know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that we have [granted us as our present possessions] the requests made of Him

My Thoughts About This Verse:

Willess! This is the way need to approach God in prayer. Asking specifically but willing to hear what God wants too, willing to hear His heart on the matter, His way on the situation and His guidance to walk forth in. He does listen, He does hear us and He will according to His will for us… answer. Yes, No, or Maybe!

1 Timothy 2:8 I desire therefore that in every place men should pray, without anger or quarreling or resentment or doubt [in their minds], lifting up holy hands

My Thoughts About This Verse:

We need to clear our minds-souls-spirits of everything but Christ, stay focused on Him and be Christlike in our heart attitudes and then we can truly lift up holy hands to Him.

John 2:1-12

ON THE third day there was a wedding at Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. 2 Jesus also was invited with His disciples to the wedding.3 And when the wine was all gone, the mother of Jesus said to Him, They have no more wine!4 Jesus said to her, [Dear] woman, what is that to you and to Me? [What do we have in common? Leave it to Me.] My time (hour to act) has not yet come. 5 His mother said to the servants, Whatever He says to you, do it.6 Now there were six waterpots of stone standing there, as the Jewish custom of purification (ceremonial washing) demanded, holding twenty to thirty gallons apiece.7 Jesus said to them, Fill the waterpots with water. So they filled them up to the brim.8 Then He said to them, Draw some out now and take it to the manager of the feast [to the one presiding, the superintendent of the banquet]. So they took him some.9 And when the manager tasted the water just now turned into wine, not knowing where it came from--though the servants who had drawn the water knew--he called the bridegroom10 And said to him, Everyone else serves his best wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then he serves that which is not so good; but you have kept back the good wine until now!11 This, the first of His signs (miracles, wonderworks), Jesus performed in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory [by it He displayed His greatness and His power openly], and His disciples believed in Him [adhered to, trusted in, and relied on Him]. 12 After that He went down to Capernaum with His mother and brothers and disciples, and they stayed there only a few days.

My Thoughts About This Verse:

Mary had a confident reliance on Jesus. She completely believed that He could handle the situation. She said: Whatever He says to you do it. She knew that if you obeyed God right down to the whatever, that He could fix the situation at hand in the perfect way. Willessness is a good thing when approaching God, knowing that He is the supreme authority on any subject, being a teachable spirit that looks to God for Wisdom and the exactly how to carry forth that wisdom.

My Thoughts About This Verse:

Jesus used what was on hand to produce the miracle in their lives. I have so much Jesus can use to produce miracles. Help me Holy Spirit to be willing to be used in whatever, however and whenever way God asks. Help me not to hold onto anything that I consider mine, but be willing to give to God whatever He needs to produce the miracle of His life in me and others.

What did Jesus do to fulfill the New Wine of the Gospel

Joel 2:19 Yes, the Lord answered and said to His people, Behold, I am sending you grain and juice [of the grape] and oil, and you shall be satisfied with them; and I will no more make you a reproach among the [heathen] nations

My Thoughts About This Verse:

Jesus satisfied The Father God for our sins with a final sacrificial offering. Jesus became the New Wine, His blood covered our sins.

John 2:13-15 Now the Passover of the Jews was approaching, so Jesus went up to Jerusalem.14 There He found in the temple [enclosure] those who were selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers sitting there [also at their stands].15 And having made a lash (a whip) of cords, He drove them all out of the temple [enclosure]--both the sheep and the oxen--spilling and scattering the brokers' money and upsetting and tossing around their trays (their stands).16 Then to those who sold the doves He said, Take these things away (out of here)! Make not My Father's house a house of merchandise (a marketplace, a sales shop)! 17 And His disciples remembered that it is written [in the Holy Scriptures], Zeal (the fervor of love) for Your house will eat Me up. [I will be consumed with jealousy for the honor of Your house.] 18 Then the Jews retorted, What sign can You show us, seeing You do these things? [What sign, miracle, token, indication can You give us as evidence that You have authority and are commissioned to act in this way?]19 Jesus answered them, Destroy (undo) this temple, and in three days I will raise it up again.20 Then the Jews replied, It took forty-six years to build this temple (sanctuary), and will You raise it up in three days?21 But He had spoken of the temple which was His body.22 When therefore He had risen from the dead, His disciples remembered that He said this. And so they believed and trusted and relied on the Scripture and the word (message) Jesus had spoken. 23 But when He was in Jerusalem during the Passover Feast, many believed in His name [identified themselves with His party] after seeing His signs (wonders, miracles) which He was doing.24 But Jesus [for His part] did not trust Himself to them, because He knew all [men];25 And He did not need anyone to bear witness concerning man [needed no evidence from anyone about men], for He Himself knew what was in human nature. [He could read men's hearts.] [I Sam. 16:7.]

My Thoughts About This Verse:

They wanted a miracle, they did not want a relationship. They wanted something from Him, they did not want Him. Faith that rests merely on miracles is deficient it craves the spectacular. Real faith craves a relationship with God.

Facts About The Passover:

Celebrated and remembered When Israelites Left Egypt

Celebrated on the full moon in March Or April

Followed right away by the Feast Of Unleavened Bread lasting 2 weeks

Pilgrims all over Palestine assembled in Jerusalem

Passover Eve the head of the household removes leaven in the house- house gets thoroughly cleaned

John called the holiday a feast of Jehovah

It was a source of tradition and it led to pride and callousness and commercialism

Malachi 3:1-3 BEHOLD, I send My messenger, and he shall prepare the way before Me. And the Lord [the Messiah], Whom you seek, will suddenly come to His temple; the Messenger or Angel of the covenant, Whom you desire, behold, He shall come, says the Lord of hosts. 2 But who can endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner's fire and like fullers' soap; 3 He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and He will purify the priests, the sons of Levi, and refine them like gold and silver, that they may offer to the Lord offerings in righteousness

My Thoughts About This Verse:

He talks about John The Baptist preparing the way for Jesus, and then He talks about the 1st coming of Jesus and the 2nd coming of Jesus.

What does Jeremiah 17:10 say about our inner attitudes and God's Omniscience (all knowing)

I the Lord search the mind, I try the heart, even to give to every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings

My Thoughts About This Verse:

God knows our heart attitudes. Even when we act like religiousity, our hearts give us away to God. He knows everything about us from the inside out!

VERSE:

O Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of this your servant and to the prayer of your servants who delight in revering your name. Give your servant success today by granting him favor in the presence of this man.

-- Nehemiah 1:11

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Nehemiah+1:11

THOUGHT:

God takes great delight when we pray asking for his guidance and help! This is especially true when the focus of our prayers is on building up his people and his Kingdom. Nehemiah comes as God's servant. He's not giving God a "go do" list using prayer to make God his servant. Instead, Nehemiah's heart burns with the needs of God's people. The rest of the book of Nehemiah is proof that God loves for his children to pray when the desires of their hearts are on his people and his will.

PRAYER:

Precious and righteous Father, please use me today as your servant. Take my words and use them to bless, encourage, and comfort. Take my influence and use it to mend and inspire. Take my time and fill it up with your concerns. May the glory and honor of all I do ultimately bring glory to you. Your grace has saved me; please now use me to share that grace with others. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

A Seasoned Servant Of God Has Encouraged Me Today

Pastor Elliott

Numbers 11:21-23 (HCSB)
21 But Moses replied (to the Lord), "I'm in the middle of a people with 600,000 foot soldiers, yet You say, 'I will give them meat, and they will eat for a month.'
22 If flocks and herds were slaughtered for them, would they have enough? Or if all the fish in the sea were caught for them, would they have enough?"
23 The Lord answered Moses, "is the Lord's power limited?  You will see whether or not what I have promised will happen to you."

The forty years of wandering in the wilderness is filled with lessons for all of us today. In this scene, Moses is bordering on blasphemy with what appears on the surface to be sarcasm, yet he was serious. Even after witnessing the LORD's power and majesty at the Red Sea and other miracles he still doubted that God could perform the impossible. Moses had to repeatedly exercise his faith. Each trial made his faith stronger. How many times have we sought God in impossible situations? How many times has He answered our prayers with mercy and grace? How many times have we doubted?
I have witnessed and received many miracles from God. The greatest of these was when He saved me from the penalty of sin. I have witnessed medical miracles after the doctors said there was no more they could do.  I have seen people beyond any help from a doctor brought to health by the hand of God.
In every case where God heals He does so for His purpose. In every case when someone passes from this life to eternity, it is for His purpose. In every personal tragedy or trial God intervenes for His purpose and glory. He freely gives us His favor and glory to bring His people into a closer relationship with Him; a relationship of faith and trust.
 Romans 8:28 (HCSB)
28 We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose.

 Romans 8:28 (HCSB)

I pray that our God will increase your faith through every trial that comes your way today and until that glorious day when we see His face. Amen

Verse Of The Day@biblegateway.com

"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength." - Deuteronomy 6:4-5

My Thoughts About This:

You know it is funny how so much in the Kingdom Life, is switched when it comes to our culture here. In the Kingdom it is weakness where you find your strength, it is dependency where you find your identity and it is willessness where you find your best position in His Love

We were at our last bit of cash, literally… all we had left was the food in the house, ¾ tank of diesel… All bills were paid by the miracle of His provision and we were looking at the challenge of how we're going to survive a new month, through the eyes of complete faith in God - entirely looking to God and knowing Bob needed a job by February 1st!
