Military Families Perusing The Psalms For: Psalm 4

Psalm 4:1-8

For the choir director: A psalm of David, to be accompanied by stringed instruments.

Answer me when I call to you, O God who declares me innocent. Free me from my troubles. Have mercy on me and hear my prayer. 2 How long will you people ruin my reputation? How long will you make groundless accusations? How long will you continue your lies? Interlude 3 You can be sure of this: The Lord set apart the godly for himself. The Lord will answer when I call to him. 4 Don't sin by letting anger control you. Think about it overnight and remain silent. Interlude 5 Offer sacrifices in the right spirit, and trust the Lord. 6 Many people say, "Who will show us better times?" Let your face smile on us, Lord. 7 You have given me greater joy than those who have abundant harvests of grain and new wine. 8 In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe.

P-Purpose-Truth

As a person in the military or in a military family or a friend of someone in the military, what truth, what purpose of God do I see in this Psalm for me and my military warrior?

  • I like verse 6 the best!
  • 6 Many people say, "Who will show us better times?" Let your face smile on us, Lord.
  • God's purpose for us is to be in His Presence and when we are in fellowship with God, these are our best times!
  • No matter what is going on in our lives, we know that in Him there are better times and in Him the best of times are yet to come.

P-Promise

What is God promising my military family/friend in this Psalm? What promise can I hold on to this week?

  • Verse 8 is definitely the promise that I pick for our family!
  • In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe.
  • This is an amazing promise for us in military families it helps settles our minds in God's peace as we live out being separated from each other while knowing that our loved ones are in constant danger!
  • It promises us God's peace, a peace in His Presence that gives us the kind of rest that surpasses our stressful situations as we believe in His Sovereignty, receive His Infinite love and accept His ability to keep us safe and work out our situations for good!
  • Jesus gives us the best kind of rest, where we can trust Him with our tomorrow and not have to figure it all out! Sweet sleep! No matter what we are going through, He promises us peace, a peace that is powerful enough to help us lay down and sleep even though things are unsettled with our warrior who is so far away!

P-Praise

What does God show me in this psalm about praising Him?

  • Verse three really stood out to me!
  • You can be sure of this: The Lord set apart the godly for himself. The Lord will answer when I call to him.
  • I see the faithfulness of God in this verse! I praise God for His faithfulness to us!
  • I praise Father God for the Mercy He extended that led to an amazing sacrifice of Jesus. What A Sacrifice that gave us a Common Denominator, The Presence Of God to help us during our deployments.
  • Oh! I praise our Triune God for His faithfulness to us; faithfulness that is always accompanied by His trustworthiness to do what is right for me, my warrior and this family as we sacrifice for the good of this country!

P-Prayer

What verse can I use as a prayer for my military family/friend this week?

  • VS 1 For the choir director: A psalm of David, to be accompanied by stringed instruments. Answer me when I call to you, O God who declares me innocent. Free me from my troubles. Have mercy on me and hear my prayer.
  • Oh What A Sacrifice! Being separated is so hard. I pray Lord that you will hear us when we pray to you. Free us from the troubles, stresses and trials that our deployment sacrifice brings to us and have mercy upon us Lord God!
  • Lord, I pray that you would speak to our hearts the truth that You are able, You can and Your mercy will keep us and bless us during this time of deployment.
  • Lord Jesus protect my warrior today, may Your mercy accompany, walk hand in hand with the sacrifice my warrior makes to protect and defend the liberty of this country.

P-BE….Just Do it

As a part or head of a military family, which verse helps me to be better, to act better, to trust God the best this week? Which verse can I use to shape my attitude about our sacrifices?

  • These verses 4 -5, really convict me and help shape my attitudes during the hard times of trying to stay in communication with each other.
  • Don't sin by letting anger control you. Think about it overnight and remain silent. 5 Offer sacrifices in the right spirit, and trust the Lord.
  • As a military person or a military family we can have a lot of frustration to deal with as we try to work out our relationships and our lives that are separated by continents at times!
  • If we trust God, if we learn to turn things over to His care then we will have good attitudes, we won't be striving so hard in our own strength, that will in the end fail us, but we will be found in God's strength that will cover our weaknesses by His mercy and help us to grow through our deployments with strong relationships and a unity that God is the common denominator of!
  • This Psalm really supports the promise that the Lord is with us during these hard times of sacrifice. His Mercy shows that He understands our needs during deployments and He will provide for us His everything in our all!

Sacrifice, God’s Love Language!

"Have I ever yielded myself in absolute submission to Jesus Christ? If He is not the One to whom I am looking for direction and guidance then there is no benefit in my sacrifice."

Quote By: Oswald Chambers

John 15:11-15

"I've told you these things for a purpose: that my joy might be your joy, and your joy wholly mature. This is my command: Love one another the way I loved you. This is the very best way to love. Put your life on the line for your friends. You are my friends when you do the things I command you. I'm no longer calling you servants because servants don't understand what their master is thinking and planning. No, I've named you friends because I've let you in on everything I've heard from the Father.

*My Prayer-HIS-THOUGHTS: KimberlyMac-Glowing In His Glory! Always-4Ever! Glow It!*

I realized this morning after reading John 15:13-15, that the Love Language of Father God, The Champion that we pattern our lives after, His Love Language is Sacrifice!

As Champions, we make a lot of sacrifices, to become and stay the best that we can be. But do we make these sacrifices unto our Father God? Are we focused on Jesus Christ? Do we as His Champions have and persevere in the "Godly Virtues" that He finished His race with? I strongly encourage you to take some time these next few weeks and sit with Jesus and learn about Godly Virtue! I have written an exhortation, penned by The Holy Spirit for all Champions In Christ called "Godly Virtue"! It is posted at my website: www.thebridegroomscafe.com you will find it at The Servant Table. Meet Jesus there and learn about the Godly Virtue that will make You an amazing Champion In Christ Jesus, Who sacrifices with joy unto The Father God!

Hebrews 12:1-3

Discipline in a Long-Distance Race

Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we'd better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we're in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he's there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!

"Our friendship with Jesus based on the new life He created in us, which has no resemblance or attraction to our old life, but only to the life of God. It is a life that is completely humble, pure and devoted to God." Quote By: Oswald Chambers

Military Families Perusing The Psalms For: Psalm 3

Psalm 3 A Morning Prayer

David sang this when he ran away from his son Absalom.1 Lord, I have many enemies! Many people have turned against me. 2 Many are saying about me, "God won't rescue him." Selah 3 But, Lord, you are my shield, my wonderful God who gives me courage.

4 I will pray to the Lord, and he will answer me from his holy mountain. Selah 5 I can lie down and go to sleep, and I will wake up again, because the Lord gives me strength. 6 Thousands of troops may surround me, but I am not afraid. 7 Lord, rise up! My God, come save me! You have struck my enemies on the cheek; you have broken the teeth of the wicked. 8 The Lord can save his people. Lord, bless your people. Selah

P-Purpose-Truth

As a person in the military or in a military family or a friend of someone in the military, what truth, what purpose of God do I see in this Psalm for me and my military warrior?

8 The Lord can save his people. Lord, bless your people. Selah

This verse really strengthens my courage in huge hope and helps me to believe in God's Hand upon my warrior!

P-Promise

What is God promising my military family/friend in this Psalm? What promise can I hold on to this week?

3 But, Lord, you are my shield, my wonderful God who gives me courage.

4 I will pray to the Lord, and he will answer me from his holy mountain. Selah 5 I can lie down and go to sleep, and I will wake up again, because the Lord gives me strength.

He promises my warrior, courage a strong courage that lets him lay down in peace and wake up in strength!

It is the same concept for me as I lay down to sleep at night, I can take courage in knowing that the Lord will answer my prayer for my warrior, that the Lord will give my warrior strength.

He promises me, peaceful sleep! I can lay down in complete rest of mind, heart and soul, putting my warrior in God's capable hands because of the COURAGE I have in Christ!

P-Praise

What does God show me in this psalm about praising Him?

David sang this when he ran away from his son Absalom.1 Lord, I have many enemies! Many people have turned against me. 2 Many are saying about me, "God won't rescue him." Selah 3 But, Lord, you are my shield, my wonderful God who gives me courage.

David was in the worst of circumstances, yet he praised God and in this heart of praise, He found courage to face the situation where his enemy was trying to kill him.

David knew that the Lord was his shield, and it was out of this heart knowledge, He praised God.

I praise You Lord God for the courage you give me as I know deep inside of me that You shields my heart with Your courage!

I know my warrior faces danger each day and it makes my soul shiver within me. I praise you God! Mighty God! Protector, Provider! I praise You and thank you for Who You are and how it inspires my heart to face each day with courage, strength and faith instead of doubt, fear and anxiety! Praise You Lord God!

We praise you Mighty Sovereign God! There is nothing out of Your control! You inspire us with the courage we need to face the unknown!

P-Prayer

What verse can I use as a prayer for my military family/friend this week?

7 Lord, rise up! My God, come save me! You have struck my enemies on the cheek; you have broken the teeth of the wicked. 8 The Lord can save his people. Lord, bless your people. Selah

I will pray this verse for my warrior and me today! Lord save us, both of us! Holy Spirit, let us know that You are the common denominator, the courage of our daily lives.

Lord, I pray that you would speak to our hearts the truth that You are able, You can and You will keep us and bless us during this time of deployment.

Lord Jesus save my warrior today from the plans of the enemy, strike down the enemy and keep my warrior safe! Bless my warrior with extreme courage and the faith to act it out! Thank you Jesus!

P-BE….Just Do it

As a part or head of a military family, which verse helps me to be better, to act better, to trust God the best this week? Which verse can I use to shape my courage?

5 I can lie down and go to sleep, and I will wake up again, because the Lord gives me strength.

8 The Lord can save his people. Lord, bless your people. Selah

I can rest peacefully and sleep even if enemies are all around me, because I will wake up in God's mighty right hand, in the Lord's strength.

My courage rests on His ability to save my warrior! The Lord can save my warrior! The Lord can deliver me from all my fears! The Lord can keep my warrior! He is able!!!

The more I choose to believe in the Might, Power, Provision and Supreme Sovereignty of my God, the more my courage is shaped by His character. Selah! Think about it!

This Psalm really supports the promise that our courage and the strength to carry it out comes from God! Believe In Him! Trust Him! Praise Him!
