Verse Of The Day@biblegateway.com

16 Seek out of the book of the Lord and read: not one of these [details of prophecy] shall fail, none shall want and lack her mate [in fulfillment]. For the mouth [of the Lord] has commanded, and His Spirit has gathered them.

My Thoughts About This = Miraculous Musings! J

I love the Sovereignty of God in this verse. God commands and His Spirit gathers. Not one of His Words fail. I love that so much!

Morning devotional By Charles Spurgeon

"His sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground."

Luke 22:44

The mental pressure arising from our Lord's struggle with temptation, so forced his frame to an unnatural excitement, that his pores sent forth great drops of blood which fell down to the ground. This proves how tremendous must have been the weight of sin when it was able to crush the Saviour so that he distilled great drops of blood! This demonstrates the mighty power of his love. It is a very pretty observation of old Isaac Ambrose that the gum which exudes from the tree without cutting is always the best. This precious camphire-tree yielded most sweet spices when it was wounded under the knotty whips, and when it was pierced by the nails on the cross; but see, it giveth forth its best spice when there is no whip, no nail, no wound. This sets forth the voluntariness of Christ's sufferings, since without a lance the blood flowed freely. No need to put on the leech, or apply the knife; it flows spontaneously. No need for the rulers to cry, "Spring up, O well;" of itself it flows in crimson torrents. If men suffer great pain of mind apparently the blood rushes to the heart. The cheeks are pale; a fainting fit comes on; the blood has gone inward as if to nourish the inner man while passing through its trial. But see our Saviour in his agony; he is so utterly oblivious of self, that instead of his agony driving his blood to the heart to nourish himself, it drives it outward to bedew the earth. The agony of Christ, inasmuch as it pours him out upon the ground, pictures the fulness of the offering which he made for men.

Do we not perceive how intense must have been the wrestling through which he passed, and will we not hear its voice to us? "Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin." Behold the great Apostle and High Priest of our profession, and sweat even to blood rather than yield to the great tempter of your souls.

My Thoughts About This = Miraculous Musings! J

Jesus was striving against sin and sweat drops of blood. Do I strive against sin, or do I just give into my flesh?

How does one move from management to leadership? The differences seem easy. How about the process? Thoughts?

My Thoughts About This = Miraculous Musings! J

You Do It, Then You Get Someone To Watch You Do It, Then You Get Them To Do It With You, Then You Watch Them Do It, Then They Do It! Management to me is a straight line from them to you where leadership is a circle of life and it reproduces more leaders. Management is a necessary thing in a new adventure, but it can't keep the top billing, it has to give way to leading. When you are managing you are constantly watching the people around you, being very observant to the gifts they are flowing in, to how they are leading others and that is how management takes a step to leadership, watching and then moving those people into your circle, into the flow of your leadership, setting them up to lead with you with the goal of having them lead and form their own circle... management does not make disciples, leadership does and that is to me a huge difference in the two. Just some thoughts! Have a great weekend!

In launching new things within a ministry, I feel God gives the vision and then you have to manage it, but all the while you are looking for people stepping out in their giftedness, watching them as you model and manage the vision. Management to me is modeling the vision while others watch, see and learn. Leadership is watching others model the vision.

I sure will and I KNOW He will give you that wisdom.  When I started at the new campus, I was the children's and youth admin secretary.  I was in charge of all the volunteers for these areas, over 100 of them.  I started out managing, ended up with something that looked like mentoring-servant leadership.  I found if you put mentoring into your management of people it transitions your management into servant leadership. It is a "Jesus Thing" because if you look at His life from the 1st miracle on to the last breathe on the cross, He began as a manager and He ended as a mentoring servant-warrior! That 1st miracle at the wedding, He was managing his ministry, then watch HIM over time and He will teach you how to put the mentoring in your leadership.  Mentoring not only translates management into leadership, it creates a servant warrior leader!  Jesus creates some truly functional servant leaders that become their own "family" in a sense, serving and doing life together. God will give the most amazing spontaneous ways to mentor your leadership and create family circles with the compassion of Jesus flowing around them, the love of Jesus compelling them and the sacrificial heart of Jesus feeding their salvation as they work out their mission for God. Keep asking HIM, keep listening and looking because God is totally creative! I can't even begin to tell you how much He helped me during that season. I was way in over my head trying to manage and He changed it to mentoring-leadership.  I was challenged more than I could handle at times, BUT never more than the God Purpose flowing in my life.  I will be praying for you and LOL... I know exactly how to pray! PS... I think from my experience, you know when you have moved from management to servant leadership when you see the people you were managing, wearing  and modeling the ministry vision from their heart inside to their service outside! Most of the time it is reversed, they are feeding their heart with ministry, it makes them feel good about themselves, feel full, but the variables in ministry and the principalities and powers of the enemy make that an unbalanced feeding trough and a roller coaster volunteering experience.  A volunteer is all in with the ministry, a servant leader is ALL IN with God.  Truly, a servant-leader fills His heart with God, as ministry leadership is constantly pointing them to a dependence on HIM, modeling that their call is to God 1st and out of the abundance of their heart relationship with God, a servant warrior steadily leads! A volunteer has a happy alliance with ministry.  A servant leader has a Holy Alignment with God.  As a manager you feed the "happy alliance", as a servant leader, you mentor them, helping them to re-adjust thier position of alliance with God 1st. I used to tell my servant leaders "You guys need to be Firstees" I used to call them "Firstees" because I wanted them to strive to keep God 1st, because out of that a servant-warrior leadership lives and breathes and their ministry is powerful unto God!  Yeah  God! AWE-GOD!

I believe I am here for a reason and my purpose is greater than my challenges.

Prayerful Perseverance

"The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day." Proverbs 4:18

Prayerful perseverance is the path of the righteous. It is the route the righteous take during recessionary times. An economic downturn can be a detour in our walk with Christ, or it can shed light on where God wants us to go. You persevere in prayer, because it is here that the voices of worry go mute, and your Master guides you onto a productive path. Indeed, recessions force us to be resourceful in our relationships and creativity.
Perhaps you reach out to those who have helped you in the past, but are unable to help now, because they are too needy. Take the time to connect those out of work with opportunities that may match their calling. Most importantly, ask others how you can specifically pray for them. The Lord leads by the light of His love during dark days; so stay connected to Christ and people in prayer. This righteous resolve takes focus and hard work.
"You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised." Hebrews 10:36
The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. This is why it is imperative you feed the spirit in persistent prayer. Stay engaged with God, and the gleaming dawn of hope will rise on your shadowed circumstances. As you prayerfully walk with the Lord in the light there is a holy security and serene spirit that shines forth from your countenance for all to see. Your humble and good works on earth bring glory to your Father in heaven.

Prayerful perseverance increases the brightness of your light like the rising of the all-consuming orange sun. So use recessionary days to heal the hurting, rescue the repentant, and comfort the broken. Dark days were created for the care of Christians to come forth in faith and generosity. Therefore, prayerfully persevere for your soul's sake, for God's glory, and in service to others.
"Then your light will break out like the dawn, And your recovery will speedily spring forth; And your righteousness will go before you; The glory of the LORD will be your rear guard" (Isaiah 58:8, NASB).
Where do I need to persevere in prayer, and who can I specifically pray for in their dark night of the soul?

Proverbs 15:13 "A joyful heart makes a face cheerful, but a sad heart [produces] a broken spirit."

A Seasoned Servant Of God Has Encouraged Me Today

Dear Bob and Kim,

I need to confess something. I need to smile more often. That's right. I don't smile enough. I don't let my face really know how happy and filled with God's love I am. I don't really think about it as I go through my day, but as I prayed this morning, and read a beautiful prayer sent to me by a reader, the Lord laid that on my heart.

I am blessed to have a wife, family, and church family who love me and they are not afraid to show it. I have friends who are always there for me. When I have had too many hard days in a row, they lift me up in prayer. I have a wife who loves me (when I am not making a mess around the house). But most of all, I am a servant of God through Jesus Christ. Jesus loves me all the time. He loved me when I did bad things and He loved me when I did good things. He loved me before I was ever born. He loves me so much that He chose to die on the cross that I might have life and have it more abundantly and eternally.

I have good reason to have a cheerful face. I'll do better to remember that. I hope you do, too. That's how we show Him how much we love Him.

What do people see when they look at your face? If He is in your heart, make sure your face knows it.

Now, SMILE... and have a blessed day! Pastor Elliott

My Thoughts About This = Miraculous Musings! J

I agree!  One of the 1st things that God wants us to smile about is HIM and I find that as I develop my AWE-GOD, I smile so much more and I smile from the inside-out! Omnipresent Reality Check! Take time through the day to stand in AWE of God, to develop your AWE of HIM. There is so much of AWE-God around us all day long and we just don't take time to experience it, to bask in it because we are busy with our "stuff" our "ministry challenges". Daily, His miracles are occurring all around us as His Kingdom Purposes are always in play in our lives… always! We are never without God Purpose and that in itself is a HUGE AWE-GOD! I find that the Bride of Christ doesn't stop long enough to "Celebrate" the things God purposefully does in us and through us. We need to saturate our souls in the AWE of God! We bypass the celebration and we are right there ready to jump into the next challenge. What is it that makes us driven in that way that we don't stop to SMILE? As Christians, our true challenge is keeping the Purposes of God in the center of our focus more than the challenges we face as His servant-warriors. Because in the purposes of God, there is a miraculous flow that will feed your AWE-GOD and give you an "Infinitely So" smile! Because of the culture we live in, because of the spiritual principalities, our challenges will always be popping up in our lives, BUT… I truly believe the challenges we face are never greater than the Purposes of God in play around us. So why do we give more attention to the challenges we face and less attention to the greater God Purposes that lend to so much AWE-GOD! I so want to stay in Holy Alignment with God's Purposes and then SMILE – Glow God's Glory! AWE-GOD!
