Election Week: Exhortation From God!

Lord God…

Have Mercy Upon Us!

If the church marries herself to the spirit of the times,

she will find herself a widow in the next generation.

Quote By: Charles Stanley

Mercy, God's Mercy! This is the thing that I am thinking and praying most of all this week before the elections in our nation! The desire for God's Mercy consumes my soul, the desire to be forgiven, the pursuit of God's Mercy is all I can think or pray for!

Psalm 33:18-22

Behold, the Lord's eye is upon those who fear Him [who revere and worship Him with awe], who wait for Him and hope in His mercy and loving-kindness, 19To deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine. 20Our inner selves wait [earnestly] for the Lord; He is our Help and our Shield. 21For in Him does our heart rejoice, because we have trusted (relied on and been confident) in His holy name. 22Let Your mercy and loving-kindness, O Lord, be upon us, in proportion to our waiting and hoping for You.

True repentance will entirely change you; the bias of your souls will be changed, then you will delight in God, in Christ, in His Law, and in His people.

Quote By: George Whitefield

I remember some teachings I heard from the Old Testament where the people wanted a king so bad, they wanted change in their nation and God told them that they did not need this change as much as they needed to turn back to Him first. But they just kept going after what they wanted and then God decided to give it to them... give them what they wanted to show them that it truly was not what they needed... they needed Him, they needed His favor not the favor of a human king.

In this election week I have thoughts about both party platforms and I believe neither one of these candidates can change the course of a nation for good without God's Favor! I wonder... HMMMM... Where has our favor gone? Evil has escalated in this election, there seems to be no visible hand of God's Favor.... our candidates are getting beat up by the press, the candidates are beating up each other and the press is center stage being beat up by the candidates! The crowds are rude, disrespectful and very unruly. What a great witness we have been to the world… UGGGG! What fun this election has been! UGGGGG… Acorn is cheating like crazy, an institution that we all pay taxes for is signing up people to vote who don't even exist and getting away with it without any accountability! Great way to center stage our democratic ways to the world, by modeling how to cheat! Sickening! There is nothing sure, nothing constant… I am not even totally sure both Candidates are born in America!!! The polls are just as decrepit and just as wrong as the last two elections.. could it be that they are just plain old outdated because people don't use home phones anymore, they use cell phones… or could it be that they are corrupted by a one sided viewpoint? Where is freedom, justice and liberty for all? Where is God's Favor?

We must, furthermore, protest the notion of manifest destiny that permits our nation to do anything it chooses. For if we insist on walking down this road, than at some point - as God is God, the God in whose eyes there is real good and real evil - we who have trampled so completely on all of God's amazing gifts to this country are going to wake up and find that He cares very much what we do. We must not suppose that we are playing only intellectual and political games. If God exists, and if He judges good and evil, then we must realize that those who trample on His great gifts will one day know His judgment. The scriptures bear solemn witness to this. Our nation is not immune.

Quote By: Francis A. Schaeffer The Shelter

In the final stretch of this election, people are just plain nasty all the angry people are coming out in droves and parking themselves in public places, yelling and screaming as you go into movie theatres, putting up vulgar signs with vulgar pictures (Bush+Dick=Screwed) and shoving them in the faces of your children and grandchildren who truly don't understand why all these adults are so angry with them. And then when you say something to the manager of the theatre, that this is not good for the children coming into the theatre, he says if you don't like it, pick another theatre... crazy stuff... angry people, hurting people wounding the spirit of innocent children. Angry people rapidly losing their perspective on the reality of being responsible and civil as the eyes of the heart of the next generation are taking it all in!

I need Thee, O Lord, for a curb on my tongue; when I am tempted to making carping criticisms and cruel judgments, keep me from speaking barbed words that hurt, and in which I find perverted satisfaction. Keep me from unkind words and from unkind silences. Restrain my judgments. Make my criticisms kind, generous, and constructive. Make me sweet inside, that I may be gentle with other people, gentle in the things I say, kind in what I do. Create in me that warmth of mercy that shall enable others to find Thy strength for their weakness, Thy peace for their strife, Thy joy for their sorrow, Thy love for their hatred, Thy compassion for their weakness. In thine own strong name, I pray. Amen.

Quote By:Peter Marshall

I feel God may completely pull back His hand of favor on America... and will give America what she wants... life without His Favor that comes with a nation that stands under the covering of His Authority. Favor we have enjoyed for so very long and possibly taken for granted in our everyday living! We have been a nation looked up to, a super power in the world. Why? Because we have been founded on Godly principles and bowed in heart and spirit to Almighty God! What has changed? We have!

Every now and again, Our Lord lets us see what we would be like if it were not for Himself; it is a justification of what He said - "Without Me you can do nothing." That is why the bedrock of Christianity is personal, passionate devotion to the Lord Jesus.

Quote By Oswald Chambers My Utmost for His Highest

I voted early so I could spend this time just praying. I am spending this time just crying out to God for Mercy... and I believe we all need to do so... because in the bible it shows many times where He did respond, He did change the course of things when His people humbled themselves and cried out for mercy. With all the shenanigans going on in this election cycle, there is no way anyone wins what they truly want and what we truly need is God's Favor, God's Covering, God's Authority and God's Presence In This Nation! A United States! A United States Under Almighty God In Whom We Trust!

Not until we have become humble and teachable, standing in awe of God's holiness and sovereignty... acknowledging our own littleness, distrusting our own thoughts, and willing to have our minds turned upside down, can divine wisdom become ours.

Quote By:James I (J. I.) Packer Brief Online Interview

People are being deceived by the lies, blatant lies going on... after the debates the things spoken by the candidates had to be sifted through to find the real truth. How sad! There is not a strong republican or democratic ticket; both are flawed in some ways... so in this confusion, people are turning to their own intellect instead of turning to God! The heart of this country is desperately wicked, so how can anyone make a right choice; a truth informed choice with the help of the Holy Spirit! Who can stop the spinning merry-go round of white washed rhetoric and find the real truth? Only God! Where is truth? Real Truth? Where is the voice of truth?

Psalm 33: 8-12

Let all the earth fear the Lord [revere and worship Him]; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. 9For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast. 10The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nought; He makes the thoughts and plans of the peoples of no effect. 11The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the thoughts of His heart through all generations. 12Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He has chosen as His heritage.

The 7 Modern Sins:

Politics without principles

Pleasures without conscience

Wealth without work

Knowledge without character

Industry without morality

Science without humanity

Worship without sacrifice.

Quote By: Canon Frederic Donaldson

My choice became apparent after researching the political platforms of the candidates and finding out the truth and I chose to stick to what I basically believed in the Word of God, what has been consistent and true in my life and not the rhetoric of this campaign. But many other Christians have strayed from their beliefs and are entertaining even thoughts that this country is not a Christian Nation, that Christianity is not the foundation of this country, they say it is a secular nation made up of many religions and that faith based truths and values cannot trump the secular way of thinking when it comes to voting for a President or writing and enforcing laws. How absurd to think that our society has no absolute truth and truly very dangerous because a nation without God as its common denominator will never be balanced and will topple… implode… without the laws of morality such as the ten commandments that have governed it from the beginning of time, laws not only seen on paper but written on the hearts of mankind by Almighty God! Be careful what lines you cross to rationalize your decisions and choices. Our God is not a God to be mocked!

Psalm 33: 8 Let the whole earth have respect for the Lord. Let all of the people in the world honor him.

This country was founded as a Christian Nation and it is a Christian Nation! This truth is swept up in the confusion of this political "spin" and beware of being caught up in the tornado and spun far away from God! Almighty God is the Lord of this Nation, there is no Other! Is that plain and simple enough! He is simply enough for us! There is no compromise to this truth… He is Lord! He has united this nation from its conception and never has it been questioned like this election, but this truth will stand the test of time! Trust it!

Psalm 33:4

For the word of the Lord holds true, and we can trust everything he does. 5 He loves whatever is just and good; the unfailing love of the Lord fills the earth.

This independent, self-sufficient approach to life is the fundamental sin of so many of us... It is the refusal of grace. It is the failure to acknowledge Abba as the Divine Almsgiver. It is Adam and Eve reaching for the apple all over again. But, luckily, self-sufficiency can take us only so far. Sooner or later we run up against a brick wall. We get a sudden glimpse into our existential self-deficiency. We finish eating the apple and discover, a few hours later, that we are hungry again. We gradually realize where we actually are and where we truly belong.

Quote By Albert Haase

And now to the worst part of all of this nonsense going on is that someone tried to assassinate Obama and that scares the hell out me because that would send our country into a tail spin like no other, we could have a civil war... what has this country come to... how sad... we have spiraled way down a humanistic, lawless path and need to begin the trek back up to God's Spirit and Truth!

No soul can be really at rest until it has given up all dependence on everything else and has been forced to depend on the Lord alone. As long as our expectation is from other things, nothing but disappointment awaits us. Feelings may change, and will change with our changing circumstances; doctrines and dogmas may be upset; Christian work may come to naught; prayers may seem to lose their fervency; promises may seem to fail; everything that we have believed in or depended upon may seem to be swept away, and only God is left, just God, the bare God, if I may be allowed the expression; simply and only God.

Quote by: Hannah Whitall Smith

I voted for McCain, He is my personal choice after much debate, study and prayer. That is what is so great about America, we all have the right to research, to pray and to decide for ourselves and then to place the vote of our convictions! I did not want Obama to win for many reasons, but this assassination plot is really, really decrepit... he is a father, he has two children that need him... I don't agree with anything that he stands for, and I believe he needs more time as a civil servant and become more of a seasoned servant before he becomes a President; but he is a human being, one of God's creations that can be touched by God and influenced by God's Holy Spirit, just like any other human being can be changed... and his life here is valuable and should never be the plot of an assassination. It still grieves my heart about President Kennedy! What a waste of a good life because someone decided to take matters in their own hands! Our God is huge, He can do anything! How far has this country spiraled down the road of sin... those who wanted to kill Senator Obama, those apparently neo Nazis, they are the outward and very dangerous symptom of an underlying inward sickness of this country as we have tried to do things on our own... walk by our own light... be independent from God.... we need Jesus plain and simple... it is time to turn back to Him completely... before He gives us over to our ways.. let us get back to the basics of life... Jesus Christ is all we need !!!

Isaiah 50:10

Who is among you who [reverently] fears the Lord, who obeys the voice of His Servant, yet who walks in darkness and deep trouble and has no shining splendor [in his heart]? Let him rely on, trust in, and be confident in the name of the Lord, and let him lean upon and be supported by his God. 11Behold, all you [enemies of your own selves] who attempt to kindle your own fires [and work out your own plans of salvation], who surround and gird yourselves with momentary sparks, darts, and firebrands that you set aflame!--walk by the light of your self-made fire and of the sparks that you have kindled [for yourself, if you will]! But this shall you have from My hand: you shall lie down in grief and in torment.

Father God I pray that You would forgive our nation! We are wrong to think we can do anything without Your covering, Your favor. We have been so foolish to think we don't need You, we don't need Your founding precepts and the Word of God. We have believed lies that You are not the foundation of this great country. Forgive us Lord Jesus! Father, we humbly submit to You and ask for Your forgiveness. We need You. We want You to be the Father of this great nation, the spiritual covering and the strength of our unity. Jesus have mercy upon this country and make us great again by Your favor, grace and wisdom. AMEN!!

 Psalm 33: 20-22

We put our hope in the Lord. He is our help and our shield. 21 In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. 22 Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord, for our hope is in you alone.

Dig Deeper….Live Deeper….Dig Deeper….Just Do It!!!!!!!!!!

Psalm 33

You who are godly, sing with joy to the Lord. It is right for honest people to praise him. 2 Praise the Lord with the harp. Make music to him on the lyre that has ten strings. 3 Sing a new song to him. Play with skill, and shout with joy. 4 What the Lord says is right and true. He is faithful in everything he does. 5 The Lord loves what is right and fair. The earth is full of his faithful love. 6 The heavens were made when the Lord commanded it to happen. All of the stars were created by the breath of his mouth. 7 He gathers the waters of the sea together. He puts the oceans in their places. 8 Let the whole earth have respect for the Lord. Let all of the people in the world honor him. 9 He spoke, and the world came into being. He commanded, and it stood firm. 10 The Lord blocks the sinful plans of the nations. He keeps them from doing what they want to do. 11 But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever. What he wants to do will last for all time. 12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. Blessed are the people he chose to be his own. 13 From heaven the Lord looks down and sees everyone. 14 From his throne he watches all those who live on the earth. 15 He creates the hearts of all people. He is aware of everything they do. 16 A king isn't saved just because his army is big. A soldier doesn't escape just because he is very strong. 17 People can't trust a horse to save them either. Though it is very strong, it can't save them. 18 But the Lord looks with favor on those who respect him. He watches over those who put their hope in his faithful love. 19 He watches over them to save them from death. He wants to keep them alive when there is no food in the land. 20 We wait in hope for the Lord. He helps us. He is like a shield that keeps us safe. 21 Our hearts are full of joy because of him. We trust in him, because he is holy. 22 Lord, may your faithful love rest on us. We put our hope in you.
