Military Families Perusing The Psalms For: Psalm 2

Psalm 2 :1-12

Why do the nations plan evil together? Why do they make useless plans? 2 The kings of the earth take their stand against the Lord. The rulers of the earth gather together against his anointed king. 3 "Let us break free from their chains," they say. "Let us throw off their ropes." 4 The One who sits on his throne in heaven laughs. The Lord makes fun of those rulers and their plans. 5 When he is angry, he warns them. When his anger blazes out, he terrifies them. 6 He says to them, "I have placed my king on my holy mountain of Zion." 7 I will announce what the Lord has promised. He said to me, "You are my son. Today I have become your father. 8 Ask me, and I will give the nations to you. All nations on earth will belong to you. 9 You will rule them with an iron rod. You will break them to pieces like clay pots." 10 Kings, be wise! Rulers of the earth, be warned! 11 Serve the Lord and have respect for him. Serve him with joy and trembling. 12 Obey the son completely, or he will be angry. Your way of life will lead to your death. His anger can blaze out at any moment. Blessed are all those who go to him for safety.

P-Purpose-Truth

As a person in the military or in a military family or a friend of someone in the military, what truth, what purposes of God do I see in this Psalm for me and my military warrior?

12 Obey the son completely, or he will be angry. Your way of life will lead to your death. His anger can blaze out at any moment. Blessed are all those who go to him for safety.

MY INSIGHTS:

  • We know as Military Families that obedience is necessary in the military because it can save your life. Doing what you want when you want it and not following a uniform tactical code can be disastrous in the military line of work.
  • I mean if you had a bad attitude day and did not want to follow orders, not only would you take down yourself by not following commands but also many other people. Just the same as our life with God, God has set forth His way for us, to protect us and His Word is a measure of safety for us to live by.
  • Completely is a key word here.
  • We need to take God at His Word, do what it says without any rationalization.

  • P-Promise

What is God promising my military family/friend in this Psalm? What promise can I hold on to this week?

7 I will announce what the Lord has promised. He said to me, "You are my son. Today I have become your father. 8 Ask me, and I will give the nations to you. All nations on earth will belong to you.

  • He promises us His all! His heart towards us is Huge!
  • He is our Father and He will take care of us in every and any situation!
  • We need to ask Him first when we have a need

P-Praise

What does God show me in this psalm about praising Him?

8 Ask me, and I will give the nations to you. All nations on earth will belong to you.

MY INSIGHTS:

  • Lord we praise you that all the nations on earth will belong to you.
  • We Praise You, You are the owner of this world. You are the creator.
  • We praise you that you are able to take care of that which you have made.
  • We praise you that You Hold The World In Your Hands!

P-Prayer

What verse can I use as a prayer for my military family/friend this week?

1Why do the nations plan evil together? Why do they make useless plans? 2 The kings of the earth take their stand against the Lord. The rulers of the earth gather together against his anointed king. 3 "Let us break free from their chains," they say. "Let us throw off their ropes." 4 The One who sits on his throne in heaven laughs. The Lord makes fun of those rulers and their plans.

MY INSIGHTS:

  • Lord, Nations plan evil against us and our warriors are the object of that evil. I pray that you would render their plans useless.
  • No plans will survive Your purposes! I pray that every good purpose will be accomplished in the life of my warrior. Help my warrior break free from any chains, any ropes the enemy wants to burden my warrior with!

P-BE….Just Do it

As a part or head of a military family, which verse helps me to be better, to act better, to trust God the best this week? Which verse can I use to shape my attitudes?

10 Kings, be wise! Rulers of the earth, be warned! 11 Serve the Lord and have respect for him. Serve him with joy and trembling.

MY INSIGHTS:

  • Respect is a really good attitude to develop in your heart. You can respect with your head while you disrespect with your heart. You will act better when you follow after God's wisdom with a heart of respect.

  • When you are being found submissive to His ways, respecting Him because of Who He is. Respect out of a heart of respect does lend to Joy. You can have Joy even in the hardest of times if your respect is pure, from the heart, which leads to good choices and strength of character. BE wise, Serve God from the heart out of a heart of respect. Be Joyful and respectful.

  • How can we as military and military families have attitudes that reflect respect, willessness and joy? We need to be constantly checking our heart attitudes? How long has it been since you had an attitude check? Respect X 2! Respect goes both ways. God values us, He loves us with all His heart and there is no good thing He will withhold from us. We must respect Him from an undivided heart. We must check our attitudes to make sure we have a healthy esteem for God!

ATTITUDE CHECK RESPECT x 2!

Tough Love

This blog page is a response page from The Bridegroom's Cafe/Family Table/Water It Side Dish at www.thebridegroomscafe.com

Questions:

Habakkuk 3:18-19

When you water your heart with this scripture, how does your courage grow?

My Answer: God helps me walk in the hard places of this life. He gives me strength and in that strength of the Lord, my courage grows. I am not afraid, because I know He will help me even if His Tough Love is hard to take, I know that He is doing what is best for me.

Micah 5:4

When you water your mind with this scripture, what promise grows to guard your thoughts?

I can be confident in those that lead me, even in tough times like these because the Lord is with them, His favor is with our country. When I am afraid of our future, I know that God is at the helm of this country, I know that He is in control and will work all things out for our good.

1 Timothy 1:12

When you water your heart with this scripture, what thoughts of thanksgiving does it nurture in your mind? What grows out of your spirit when you water it with this scripture?

I am so thankful for the strength of God. I know that gratefulness grows my faith and faith my character and when my character grows, my trust in God grows! It is a really good snowball effect! It is all good!!

2 Corinthians 12:8-10

When you water you mind with this scripture, what good thoughts does it seed and what good actions will it grow as you think about God's Tough Love?

I think about being honest about my weakness and not trying to hide it because God manifests His strength through it. I think about my family and all the tough times we have been through, times that God did not lift the trial until all His purposes were worked out in us and I think about how better off we were after the trials. I think about the heavenly hindsight of good growth in my inner personality, how I matured through every tough time I went through. I think about how good God is!

Road Trip ramah: Spiritual Nourishment 4 strength!

1 Peter 2:8-10

"He is the stone that makes people stumble, the rock that makes them fall."[a] They stumble because they do not obey God's word, and so they meet the fate that was planned for them. 9 But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests,[b] a holy nation, God's very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light. 10 "Once you had no identity as a people; now you are God's people. Once you received no mercy; now you have received God's mercy."[New Living Translation (NLT)

Road Trip 2 endurance/promises for soul nourishment

"You can deal with an enormous amount of success as well as an enormous amount of failure without losing your identity, because your identity is that you are the beloved. Long before your father and mother, your brothers and sisters, your teachers, your church, or any people touched you in a loving as well as in a wounding way-long before you were rejected by some person or praised by somebody else-that voice has been there always. "I have loved you with an everlasting love." That love is there before you were born and will be there after you die."

Road Trip personal thoughts!

It is just amazing to me how I have gotten through these 33 days of this God Adventure Road Trip! Choice by Choice has been a great revelation for me because it focuses me on Jesus 1st, not my personal goals. Moment to moment I am following Him, I am changing on the tick of a second to stay in pace with Him in my all and everything. I am learning His ways, His truths and His life velocity for me. He is setting the Championship pace for my run through this life unto the finish line. Every morning I find myself in His Presence, looking for the footprint He has left for me to fit my steps into for that day. He is always faithful and it is always there, His impression for me to pursue with His personal intent that I be position in His Grace choice by choice.

Psalm 86:11

Lord, teach me how you want me to live. Then I will follow your truth. Give me a heart that doesn't want anything more than to worship you.

Road Trip : 2 endurance: attitude- paced- 2-appreciate!

We would be still and know that You are God.... We stand in awe of You..., Your awesome holiness, majestic splendor, blazing glory, limitless power, and unquestionable sovereignty. We worship You for Your flawless character, Your infinite knowledge and wisdom, Your absolute justice, unswerving faithfulness, unending mercy.... We bow our hearts and bend our knees before... Your dazzling beauty, Your fascinating personality, Your incomprehensible humility, Your unsearchable understanding, and Your unfathomable love.... Our greatest need is to have a far greater revelation of what You are really like. We ask You to meet that need.

Quote By: Joy Dawson Youth With A Mission

  1. Thank you Lord Jesus for this Road Trip God Adventure these last 30 some days that is teaching me the true meaning of endurance.
  2. Thank you Jesus for Your holiness, that stands the tests of times! Enduring Forever!
  3. Thank You Jesus for Your absolute Justice that endures through the worst of betrayal.
  4. Thank you Jesus for your unswerving faithfulness that endures the foolishness of mankind.
  5. I so appreciate Your Personality Lord Jesus, it gives me a model to form my life after.
  6. Your love, your unfathomable love, how can I ever take it for granted! I am so grateful for Your love, it surrounds me inside to outside, shallow to deep, under to over and always with me.
  7. Jesus, thank you for dying for me so I could have a greater revelation through a personal relationship with my Father God, of WHOSE I am.

Road Trip personal thoughts!

The last few days, the biggest revelation to me was that I was so worried about Who I was. I had exchanged a lie for a truth because God is not concerned so much about who I am on the outside as He is about WHOSE I am on the inside. This part of my Road Trip Adventure has really impacted me and I deeply realize that in order to Grow 2 Go unto endurance, I need to be focused on WHOSE I am and not who I am. Jesus! I am yours!

Proverbs 19: 21

We humans keep brainstorming options and plans, but God's purpose prevails.

Road Trip personal thoughts!

My spirit is sighing within me today. I so want God to do something my way. A friend is suffering, I want God to heal, restore and I want Him to do it now. Then there is my life, our move to South Carolina. I have moved from shock, to anger to sadness, to crying and now I have a choice to make, I will either keep sighing and follow the path of what I want, with my head down and my will bent or I will be the Champion that God has created me to be and look up, be still and joyfully put my feet in the footsteps He has imprinted for me, praising Him and knowing He is God.

Road Trip ramah: Spiritual Nourishment 4 strength!

Psalm 42:8

During the day the Lord sends his love to me. During the night I sing about him. I say a prayer to the God who gives me life. 9 I say to God my Rock, "Why have you forgotten me? Why must I go around in sorrow? Why am I beaten down by my enemies?" 10 My body suffers deadly pain as my enemies make fun of me. All day long they say to me, "Where is your God?" 11 My spirit, why are you so sad? Why are you so upset deep down inside me? Put your hope in God. Once again I will have reason to praise him. He is my Savior and my God.

Road Trip personal thoughts!

I still hold on, I still hold on to my maybes! How foolish I am to grieve over what I want, when what He wants has been clearly better for me. It is that root of flesh that needs to be deracinated from this earth and transplanted in the Kingdom of God…completely… all of it! I need to let be…give it up, what I want, stop clinging to it instead of letting go and abandoning myself to Him; completely to His will for me. My grief, my sadness, my spiritual sighing is a very strong clue that I have not completely accepted His plan. It is time… to let be… let be… be still and know He is God!

Road Trip 2 endurance/promises for soul nourishment

Psalm 46:7-10

The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our Refuge (our Fortress and High Tower). Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]! 8Come, behold the works of the Lord, Who has wrought desolations and wonders in the earth. 9He makes wars to cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow into pieces and snaps the spear in two; He burns the chariots in the fire. 10Let be and be still, and know (recognize and understand) that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations! I will be exalted in the earth! 11The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our Refuge (our High Tower and Stronghold). Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!

Road Trip personal thoughts!

What trips me up is me, trying to figure out the pace God has set for me on my life path. I need to follow Him, set my pace in step with Him without letting my mind go off in all directions because that makes for clumsy feet. The heart of the gospel is change! My feet carry the good news of Jesus Christ as His messenger and I will go where He leads! Mind! Be quiet! It is obvious in my life that God is moving me in a different direction, very obvious because my home in NC is being rented this weekend. He has a specific plan and He is carrying it out in His way. Sighing in my spirit shows me that I am not accepting His plan! Sadness that sticks around in the Presence of God's love, comfort and hope is sighing of a very willful one! I want to let be, be still and know He is God. So be it in me Lord! Your joy is my strength, my hope and my song!

Road Trip : 2 endurance: attitude- paced- 2-appreciate!

  • Lord I am grateful for the changes You are bringing about in my life, they are causing me to grow, shed the old flesh and take on more of Your new life.
  • Thank you that You shake things up at the right time, to keep me fresh and new in this life!
  • I appreciate how you handle my hardheadedness Lord. You do not give up on me, You continue to chip away at my will until I am willesss. How blessed I am to have You at the center of my life. Your faithfulness is trustworthy and I am so thankful for it!
  • Thank you Jesus that You will finish what You started in me 34 years ago. What an adventure it has been from change to change.
  • Thank you for Your Glory that glows in me through new things You are doing, changes of heart that ring out the Gospel message on my life path… strong and clear.

Day 29-31: THUR-sat, January 29-31, 2009:

Road Trip 2 endurance/promises for soul nourishment

"Divine love is perfect peace and joy, it is a freedom from all disquiet,

it is all content and happiness; and makes everything to rejoice in

itself. Love is the Christ of God; wherever it comes, it comes as the

blessing and happiness of every natural life, a redeemer from all evil,

a fulfiller of all righteousness, and a peace of God, which passeth all

understanding. Through all the universe of things, nothing is uneasy,

unsatisfied, or restless, but because it is not governed by love, or

because its nature has not reached or attained the full birth of the

spirit of love. For when that is done, every hunger is satisfied, and

all complaining, murmuring, accusing, resenting, revenging, and striving,

are as totally suppressed and overcome, as the coldness, thickness, and

horror of darkness are suppressed and overcome by the breaking forth of

the light."

Quote By: William Law http://www.ccel.org/l/law/

Road Trip personal thoughts!

I, Kimberly Ann McCarthy am destined to live in the glory of Your strength and not worry or fear anything, because all things belong to You. I will turn to You in prayer in all the circumstances and situations of my day.

This is a part of my personal creed. It is a creed I have written from my daily life learning experiences over the last ten years. If I make the right choice to turn to God, moment by moment and choice by choice, then I do live in the glory of His strength instead of the doldrums of worry, anxiety and fear. I am learning on this Road Trip God Adventure that Praise was one of the missing ingredients in my ability to endure. I needed to set my Pace to Praise! I had forgotten the power that praise had over my attitudes! If my soul is positioned in praise, the my attitudes are very enduring!

Road Trip ramah: Spiritual Nourishment 4 strength!

1 John 4:18

There is no fear in love [dread does not exist], but full-grown (complete, perfect) love [a]turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror! For fear [b]brings with it the thought of punishment, and [so] he who is afraid has not reached the full maturity of love [is not yet grown into love's complete perfection].

Matthew 15:24-26

Then Jesus went to work on his disciples. "Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You're not in the driver's seat; I am. Don't run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I'll show you how. Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding yourself, your true self.
