A Seasoned Servant Of God Has Encouraged Me Today

Genesis 39:6-9

6 He left all that he owned under Joseph's authority; he did not concern himself with anything except the food he ate. Now Joseph was well-built and handsome. 7 After some time his master's wife looked longingly at Joseph and said, "Sleep with me." 8 But he refused. "Look," he said to his master's wife, "with me ?here? my master does not concern himself with anything in his house, and he has put all that he owns under my authority. 9 No one in this house is greater than I am. He has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. So how could I do such a great evil and sin against God?"

Matthew 4:1-3 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the Devil. 2 After He had fasted 40 days and 40 nights, He was hungry. 3 Then the tempter approached Him and said, "If You are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread."

Dear Bob and Kim I was taught in Bible College that Joseph was a "type" of Christ in the Old Testament. Like Jesus, he was tempted but he chose to follow a path of righteousness and honor to God.

When Jesus walked this earth He was fully God and fully man. Not 50/50, but 100/100. His first miracle was turning water into wine, but His testing was His great temptation in the Wilderness took place when he was his weakest, after He had fasted for 40 days and nights.

When a person comes to Christ, either for the first time or as a recommitment, he or she will face many choices that impact his or her future as servants of God. We all will be tested, maybe not exactly the way Jesus was tested or even the way Joseph was tested, but we will be tested. What is the test? We are constantly tested to see how strong our RESOLVE is to serve the LORD with all our heart, all our mind and all our strength?

Every day we must make choices. Every morning God's people must renew their resolve not to be tempted away from the truth of God's word by our sinful nature. Every day when we leave our prayer closets and go out into the world we are going to be tempted. We will be tempted to keep our mouth shut when God gives us opportunities to share the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We will be tempted to do nothing when God shows us an opportunity to do something for His Kingdom. We will be tempted to join in with unholy conversation that brings no glory to God. We will be tempted to be spiritually lazy and to pray lackadaisical prayer to see if gets past the ceiling instead of approaching God's throne with all humility and reverence. AND there will be many other temptations for us to act unrighteously. Let's pray for each other to resolve each morning to walk worthy of our calling and be that Ambassador for Christ that He has called us to be.

Pastor Elliott

My Thoughts About This:

May it be so in us, in each of us. We Are The Bride Of Christ! We Are The Bride Of Christ! We Are The Bride Of Christ! We must settle it in our hearts, Whose we are and Where we truly belong. Part of our resolve is knowing this and acting on it. It is time for the Bride of Christ to step up, we may be no match for the enemy in these times of lawlessness, but in Christ, through Jesus we are simply-significantly His servant-warriors in Holy Alignment with His Sovereign Kingdom Purpose.... Infinitely So!

  • In Christ, we are strong in despite our weakness- our human condition!
  • In Christ we are wise despite our foolish nature!
  • In Christ we are discerning despite the confusion in our times!
  • In Christ our minds can be renewed, despite the wickedness of our culturalism!
  • In Christ we are never lost to the will of this world, despite this season of time!
  • In Christ we can say yes to AWE-GOD and no to prevalent self-indulgent excesses!
  • In Christ we have a place despite our lives being here in this world where we do not fit!
  • In Christ we have joy, despite our tears of frustration, lost battles and trouncing here!
  • In Christ we have a strong refuge, despite the warfare all around us!
  • In Christ we have a Waymaker despite the dead ends we see!
  • In Christ we have eternal hope despite the death we face in this corrupting world!
  • Omnipresent Reality Check! We Are The Bride Of Christ! Settle It!

The best position for us as we begin each day is on our knees before our Commander and Chief of the Kingdom of God, our real home. As Servant Warriors fighting the temptations of this era, our 1st step out each day is down. Have you bowed today? This is the question on our lips to each other. Bow! Bow before our AWE-GOD! Humbly-Reverently-Submissively-Willessly Bow In Awe and wait to be filled with the all of His everything. It is my hope Pastor Elliott to echo this cry throughout the nations: We Are The Bride Of Jesus Christ! It is time to be The Bride Of Christ, It is time to Talk Up His Kingdom and fight His good fight to bring as many as we can with us to His Kingdom! We will be tempted to be less than what we are, to give up, to not fight, to give in during hard times, yes we will, but together we can help each other, encourage each other, forebear with each other and shore each other up with God's Grace and constantly remind each other: We Are The Bride Of Christ! Oh My Gosh… let it sink in and settle it!

We will not ever have a place to fit in this world, we may always feel invisible here. We will not be kings and queens of this world. If we lose much here, we have not lost anything. Don't be tempted to look at what you have lost here, focus on what You have received from Jesus Christ, focus on the citizenship of His Kingdom you have gained in Him. Stop chasing after what you have lst or are losing here on this earth and pursue what has been gifted you by AWE-GOD! Pursue Jesus, His righteousness and your eternal inheritance. Seek 1st The Kingdom of God!

Matthew 16:25

For whoever is bent on saving his [temporal] life [his comfort and security here] shall lose it [eternal life]; and whoever loses his life [his comfort and security here] for My sake shall find it [life everlasting].

Matthew 16 Listening To And Writing My Heart:

Pharisees tested Jesus, show us a sign. You know how to interpret the sky but you can't interpret the sings of times. None will be given you. Be on your guard from the yeast of the Pharisees. You of little faith! Why do you not understand after all I have faithfully done for you. How is it you don't understand? Be on your guard against the yeast, the teachings of the Pharisees. Who do people say the son of man is? Some say John The Baptist… but what about You He asked. Who Do You Say I am? You Are the Christ, The Son of the Living God. Jesus replied blessed are you, for this was not revealed to you by man but by my Father in heaven… The gates of Hades will not overcome it… whatever you bind on earth will be bond in heaven and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Jesus told his disciples he must suffer for salvation, killed and raised to life. Peter said never… Jesus said: get behind me satan, you are a stumbling block to me because you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men… You must lose your life to save your life, whoever loses his life for me will find it. What good will be for a man who gains the whole world, but forfeits his soul. The Son of God will come in glory with His angels and He will reward all men for what they have done. Who Do You Say I Am? You Are The Christ, The Son Of The Living God! We Are The Bride Of Christ! http://kimberlymac.blogspot.com Matt 16:25

So we keep talking. And talking.

But the Truth will always remain that . . .

We can speak of life. But God's Word creates life.

We can speak of love. But God's Word accomplishes Love.

We can speak of hope. But God's Word produces hope.

We can speak of justice. But God's Word achieves justice.

We can speak of heaven. But God's Word opens heaven.

In the digital environment of streaming words and scrolling wisdom, it's easy to forget that God's Word achieves in one whisper what the world's 6,900 known languages fail to achieve in a choir of intellect and persuasion.

The Word of God:

Lives forever. For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. 1 Peter 1:23

Overcomes evil. I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God lives in you, and you have overcome the evil one. 1 John 2:14

Penetrates hearts. For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

Opens eyes. The prophecy of one who hears the words of God, who sees a vision from the Almighty, who falls prostrate, and whose eyes are opened. Numbers 24:4

Nourishes the hungry. Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'" Matt 4:4

Protects those who use it. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Eph. 6:17

Goes viral on its own. In this way the word of the Lord spread widely and grew in power. Acts 19:20

Wins every time. For no word from God will ever fail. Luke 1:37

So today, if you haven't done so already, forfeit your most brilliant words and allow God's Word to stream (and tweet) through you.

My Thoughts About This:

Thank you! Very powerfully put!  We Are The Bride Of Christ!  We Must Settle IT!  We Are The Bride Of Christ! We Must Be.... Completely His!  He is simply-significantly our enough.  Whose we are is enough! We Are The Bride Of Christ!

We Are The Bride Of Christ! Who We Are Is Simply-Significantly Enough! Always Remember- Never Forget! Settle It! We Are The Bride Of Christ!

charles spurgeon devotional

"Only ye shall not go very far away."

Exodus 8:28

This is a crafty word from the lip of the arch-tyrant Pharaoh. If the poor bondaged Israelites must needs go out of Egypt, then he bargains with them that it shall not be very far away; not too far for them to escape the terror of his arms, and the observation of his spies. After the same fashion, the world loves not the non-conformity of nonconformity, or the dissidence of dissent; it would have us be more charitable and not carry matters with too severe a hand. Death to the world, and burial with Christ, are experiences which carnal minds treat with ridicule, and hence the ordinance which sets them forth is almost universally neglected, and even condemned. Worldly wisdom recommends the path of compromise, and talks of "moderation." According to this carnal policy, purity is admitted to be very desirable, but we are warned against being too precise; truth is of course to be followed, but error is not to be severely denounced. "Yes," says the world, "be spiritually minded by all means, but do not deny yourself a little gay society, an occasional ball, and a Christmas visit to a theatre. What's the good of crying down a thing when it is so fashionable, and everybody does it?" Multitudes of professors yield to this cunning advice, to their own eternal ruin. If we would follow the Lord wholly, we must go right away into the wilderness of separation, and leave the Egypt of the carnal world behind us. We must leave its maxims, its pleasures, and its religion too, and go far away to the place where the Lord calls his sanctified ones. When the town is on fire, our house cannot be too far from the flames. When the plague is abroad, a man cannot be too far from its haunts. The further from a viper the better, and the further from worldly conformity the better. To all true believers let the trumpet-call be sounded, "Come ye out from among them, be ye separate."

My Thoughts About This:

We accept Christ and our enemy is not far from us. He waits to see if we will wholly give our lives over to God, to Whose we are and to Where we belong. We belong to Jesus! We are His, bought with the price of His blood. We Are The Bride Of Christ! I pray Jesus you settle this in each of our hearts today! The worlds' cry is: everybody does it. The Bride Of Christ says: "I am not everybody, I am God's special, uniquely called out one. I belong to Jesus, I Am The Bride Of Christ!"

Wisdom Hunters: Boyd Bailey: Sober Self-Assessment

For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. Romans 12:3

A proper perspective of oneself fosters sound judgment—this begins with surrender and submission to Jesus. However, an enlarged ego clouds our judgment, like an early morning drive over a fog covered bridge we have a limited, even a skewed view of reality. If we speed up, we are destined to an unpleasant outcome. It is when we see our capacity larger than the Lord sees our capacity—then we tend to follow the temptation of trusting in our abilities over faith Him.

Ego forgets God's word and foolishly embraces counsel contrary to Christ. We make decisions based on our limited emotional view without inviting the wisdom of two or three objective advisors who know our situation and us well. Unsound judgment seeks out only the answer it is looking for and ignores wise warnings. Indeed, an enlarged ego entangles itself with insecure thinking and feels the need to be the center of attention.

However, sound judgment does just the opposite. It is fearful of forging advice from friends who do not fear the Lord. Sound judgment sees itself as an instrument of God's grace. It understands that Christ is the conductor over the orchestra of opportunities vying for your attention in everyday life. This is why faith in the Lord and staying under authority is the pathway to making wise decisions.

Jesus complimented a military leader who illustrated his sound judgment with statements like, "I am not worthy" [of Jesus' presence], and "I am a man under authority". Jesus followed up with a phrase of affirmation, "I tell you, I have not found such great faith even in Israel" (Luke 7:6-9). Sound judgment listens to the truth, understands the truth and is transformed by the truth, all by faith.

Lastly, don't flagellate your faith with false humility. Paul describes those who try to sound spiritual, but ironically are prideful in their thinking, "Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you for the prize. Such a person goes into great detail about what he has seen, and his unspiritual mind puffs him up with idle notions" (Colossians 2:18). They talk a lot about God, but they do little for God. Thinking too lowly of oneself is as unhealthy, as thinking too highly of oneself.

Instead, see yourself as your Savior does, forgiven and forever His child. You have nothing to prove when you rest in Him. You can be confident you are Christ's and that you are free from the guilt of sin. Appropriate His grace by faith and He will give you sound judgment. When grace is initiated, you will instinctively invite input from others and act accordingly. Sound judgment surrenders to its Savior Jesus and submits itself to its authorities. By God's grace have a modest self-assessment of your gifts and abilities.

"If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves" (Galatians 6:3).

How can I align the Lord's assessment of who I am—with how I see myself?

Related Readings: Deuteronomy 29:29; Psalms 131:1-2; 2 Corinthians 10:13-15; Colossians 2:18

The one thing that popped out at me more than the rest in this great piece of Godly wisdom was that if I am trying to prove something, then I am not resting in Him, in WHO He is. What is the Lord's assessment of Who I am? I think that begins at the cross. Seeing that He, The King of Heaven went to the cross for me, I am very valuable to Him. I have worth in Him. Help me to see myself through the worth Jesus showed me I have.

Psalm 131 A Pilgrim Song

God, I'm not trying to rule the roost, I don't want to be king of the mountain. I haven't meddled where I have no business or fantasized grandiose plans. 2 I've kept my feet on the ground, I've cultivated a quiet heart. Like a baby content in its mother's arms, my soul is a baby content.

A Seasoned Servant Of God Has Encouraged Me Today

Kevin Wimbish    9:35am Jun 27

"He did what was right in the eyes of the LORD…The high places, however, were not removed…"

-2 Kings 15:3-4

This is a common sentence throughout the books of the kings in the Bible. Good men would come to the throne as king and do well and right in the eyes of the Lord…however. Many of these men, like Azariah, would stop just short of complete obedience to God. They would do plenty of "right", but wouldn't go all out for God in destroying the high places set up for idol worship. And because of their decisions, their people and their legacies suffered.

Where are those high places in your life…those things that you are not willing to destroy and rid your life of? What in your life are you choosing to tolerate, justified by the other "rights" that you are doing for the Kingdom? Tear down those high places, men…Go all out for God. Live strong—kf

By my good friend, Kory Flowers. Even good things can become more important to us than God, and therefore idols. If you're willing, examine your hearts today for such.

My Thoughts About This:

Thanks! Very awesome! I have to guard my heart all the time and check it to make sure that I don't make "ministry" my idol. Yes, ministry is a good thing, but not if it takes the place of my personal relationship with God. Sometimes ministry to others consumed me, my call consumed me instead of the ONE I was called to and for. I keep Isaiah 50:10-11 at the forefront of my heart, guarding it. When you have been in "ministry" as long as I have, it is easy to slip into just "doing" it, instead of "being" found in God. I have kindled my own fire in the past and walked by the light of a man made fire. I never want to do that again. Ever! So hold me accountable you all, this is an idol I have worshipped in the past!

Romans 13:12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.

As we spoke across the United States these past months, it seems we were continually met with a spirit of apathy and a lack of understanding about the times in which we live. Despite all the things going on in the world today, the sense of urgency about the hour seemed lost among many.

Dr. Albert Bartlett, an expert on compounding, gave this scenario. Let's suppose you're sitting in a water tight baseball stadium which seats over 50,000 people, and you're handcuffed to the top bleacher. Let's say a single drop of water is placed in the center of the stadium and is allowed to double at a rate of 1 time per minute. In other words, 1 drop doubled, equals two drops added to the stadium. The next minute, two drops doubled equals four drops, next minute, four doubled equals eight, and so on.

How many minutes do you suppose you'd have before you'd drown? A few months? A few days? Get this -- how about 49 minutes?! That's right; it would take only 49 minutes to drown completely! What's even more remarkable is that at 44 minutes, the amount of water in the stadium would only be at 7%! Seriously, do the math!

You see, the real action takes place only in the last five minutes. It seems there is all the time in the world and then…perhaps this is one reason the scriptures say the Lord will come as a thief in the night!

I do not want to be sitting there in the top bleacher, oblivious and helpless -- do you? Those of us who are aware of the times have a key to the handcuffs -- discernment, wisdom and faith! We will begin preparing now for the times drawing nearer by the second!

Kimberly, let's get a sense of urgency about the hour in which we live. Let's pray earnestly, invest wisely, and be about His business while there's still time! There's SO much work to be done!

Romans 13:12

The night is far gone and the day is almost here. Let us then drop (fling away) the works and deeds of darkness and put on the [full] armor of light.

Amplified Bible Copyright © 1954, 1958, 1962, 1964, 1965, 1987 by The Lockman Foundation

It is not the quantity of faith, but the quality of faith, that is important. A grain of mustard seed and a pellet of dust are similar in appearance, but the differnce is immense. The one has no life burning at the heart of it, while the other contains life as God kindled it. Faith that has in it the principle of life is a faith with God in it.

Frederick Brotherton ( F. B. ) Meyer

Worship is the test of the authenticity of any conversion, whether to Christianity or some other religion. But the factor that distinguishes our faith from every other creed is the intimacy of our relationship with the living God.

Tom Inglis

Sin comes when we take a perfectly natural desire or longing or ambition and try desperately to fulfill it without God. Not only is it sin, it is a perverse distortion of the image of the Creator in us. All these good things, and all our security, are rightly found only and completely in him.

Augustine

A Minute With Maxwell

Consistent

Anyone who is successful embraces the word. It is not a charismatic word, but it is a word that works. Successful people understand that they can't reach the potential they could reach without consistency. Consistency is the ability to do the right thing regardless whether the odds are for you or the circumstances for you. If you want greatness, go to consistency this is the path that will eventually lead you to greatness.

My Thoughts About This:

This word evokes a lot of thoughts. I remember what John says we need to do.. think and write everyday! I think of my relationship with Jesus when you talk about consistency. If I want to be on the path of His greatness, I must be consistent in my relationship with Him. Constant-Consistent Communication with God does give me the ability to do the right thing no matter what is happening around me. I do want to be deeply related with my AWE-GOD and I can't do that without consistency in my relationship with Him. It is funny you used the word charismatic and said it does not describe consistent. So True! Christianity is charismatic in many ways and consistency is the anchor that keeps the boat in the right harbor. Being charismatic in our Christianity sometimes flows us into a cultural rip tide, but consistency in our relationship with God, keeps us close to our Kingdom shore, while we navigate our cultural assignments. Consistent is a word I see as a living legacy that should be lived and passed down from generation to generation.

Strength:

A lot o people have outward strength, but not inward strength. Outward strength fades as you grow older, inner strength as you grow older, carefully taken care of grows stronger.

10 Steps to Becoming a Hero

. Open your heart. Allow His love to take root and fill you to the edges. Don't be afraid to let God fill you with so much love it breaks your heart.  (Ephesians 16-18)

2.  Ask God where to begin. When you pray according to His will, He answers. God 's Word makes it clear His priority for the poor, the needy and the suffering He will show you what you need to see. (Isaiah 48:17)

3. Pay attention. Brokenness, suffering, and hurt are living next door, in your neighborhood, at your workplace, in your church, and in your online communities. Listen. Hear, and respond to what's happening in the lives of others. Look for the need that's right before you. (Deuteronomy 15:7)

4.  Investigate. There are many organizations that have great momentum and others are just getting started. Take the time to explore what various groups and organizations are doing. Align what you find with what you know God wants you to do. (Acts 17:11)

5. Discover what compels you. You've already asked God to guide you so trust Him to prick your heart and give you the desire to serve. (II Corinthians 5:14)

6.  Learn more. Most organizations are good about giving you multiple ways to serve and support the work being done. Think through what you can do in the short-term and set goals about how you can help in the long-term. (Proverbs 1:5)

7. Commit resources. Don't just determine what you can give, but stretch yourself. Then commit to give it. Use this as an opportunity to demonstrate and build your own faithfulness. (Proverbs 22:9)

8.  Inform others. Amplify the work of your chosen ministry or organization. Take it viral and spread the word about it to family, friends, and followers. Communicate often about what you are doing and the difference it makes. Live out your faith and support. (I Thessalonians 1:3)

9.  Invite others. The scriptures remind us that we don't have because we don't ask. Never underestimate the power of what happens when you personally ask someone to join or support you. Don't rob someone else the joy of giving and making a difference with you. (I Timothy 6:18)

10. Be a champion. Obey what Jesus is calling you to so. Don't miss your assignment and role in His master plan. It's your time to be His hands and feet in the world today. (II John 1:6)

We cannot do everything, and there is a sense of liberation in realizing that. This enables us to do something, and to do it very well. It may be incomplete, but it is a beginning, a step along the way, and an opportunity for the Lord's grace to enter and do the rest. - Oscar Romero

With an open heart, hands and feet ready to serve, dare to utter the words, "Send me Lord, I will go for You." #LiveSticky

My Thoughts About This:

Sometimes ministry to others consumed me, my call consumed me instead of the ONE I was called to and for. I keep Isaiah 50:10-11 at the forefront of my heart. Thank you! Very awesome! Just one comment! Followship is a call to God1st! He is our true Hero, we are a reflection of His Heroism acted out on our behalf. We can be a Hero because He is one and was ONE 1st! AWE-GOD!
