Developing My AWE-GOD With An Attitude Of Gratitude!

2012 Gratefulness! I am so grateful for the "completely" Jesus gave the Father God and for the "completely" the Father God gave back to Jesus. It is here within this circle of life I stand and I bow in reverent submission, with a grateful heart of thanksgiving for the excellence of my AWE-GOD. There is no greater name, than the name of Jesus and even at the sound of it, hearts and lives bow, humility is crushed and obedience is activated…completely! I am so grateful for the completeness of my AWE-GOD. I step into the purposes of AWE-GOD today, completely aware of the power of the name of JESUS, wholly submitted to HIS Way for me today and fully submitted to the sway of His Sovereignty in me.

Meditate On It! Roll It Over In Your Mind!

Philippians 2: 8 And after He had appeared in human form, He abased and humbled Himself [still further] and carried His obedience to the extreme of death, even the death of the cross!

  • Abase = Lower = Demean = Degrade = Belittle = Humiliate = Subjugate = Supress
  • Appearing in human form as a baby, a vulnerable baby, he suppressed His heavenly kingship
  • He lowered Himself into extreme vulnerability to the extent of being in the human condition
  • He degraded His heavenly essence to fuel His compassion with the wisdom of empathy as He stepped out of the supernatural into a natural human body.
  • He was not going to belittle any part of our life exestince, He completely experienced it, belitting His Infinite being to become finite flesh.
  • Abased to come through the birth canal and experience life as a human from its beginning to its end.
  • Our Eternal King, Jesus allowed His Infinite to be humiliated by the finite so sin and death would be forever annihilated. He abased His Kingly Rights and subjugated his Infinite life to the finite.
  • Jesus! A Higher Super Nature lowered in submission to a Higher Purpose, suppressed His Kingship Rights, subjugated His reigning authority as He was degraded and belittled by the human-finite prideful nature.
  • He suppressed His rights and humbled Himself by a demeaning death on a cross, to bring forth a final blow to the death that separated us from His Father God.

Move Past Regret and Make New Choices

Wrong choices cause regret, and when we experience regret we need to deal with it and let it teach us how to make better choices in the future.

I understand firsthand that wrong choices lead to regret. I remember a time several years ago when I looked at myself and saw a noticeable difference between my husband, Dave, and me, because he has exercised all his life and is healthy, strong and in good physical shape.

Initially, I merely regretted that I wasn't as strong as Dave, but then I realized I could do something about it. I now exercise regularly and have been amazed by the positive difference.

The Bible says that with God, you are a "new creation." You don't have to live in your old ways, but you can now make new, better choices empowered by the Holy Spirit. If you find yourself regretting some of the unwise choices you have made in the past, don't be deceived into thinking it is too late to do anything about it. Just start doing what's right and then stick with it.

As you start making better choices, you will come to experience a life in which you enjoy God's blessings every day.

Prayer Starter: Holy Spirit, I know that I have been made a new creation. I don't want to live in regret about the past. Help me to make good choices so I can enjoy the future You have for me.

My Thoughts About This = Miraculous Musings! J

Regret, I wonder if we live in regret if we have truly repented and changed our ways. Regret for me is always the path to repentance and it stops at the foot of the cross, where I lay it down and pick up the forgiveness and mercy of God and then I walk away in the other direction away from what caused me regret to fully face my AWE-GOD!

Recently I got in an argument with someone over the phone and I was so mad at the way they were trying to deceive me and would not admit the truth that I hung up the phone. I am sorry about losing my temper and my actions of hanging up the phone, but I am not sorry for speaking the truth and setting forth a path for truth. I am not sorry for keeping my commitment to truth in all my relationships. I regret not being able to finish the conversation because let my reaction get the best from me instead of letting the truth set my pace for a Godly response. Lord forgive me for my anger and teach me how to walk in love even if the righteous anger of God is stirring up inside of me, truth must be spoken in love.

Listening To Ephesians Chapter Two:

Formerly I walked according the devil, gratifying my sinful nature and being tossed to and fro by his enticing of my human condition. Objects of evil wrath, a sinner by human nature, but God loved me with mercy made me alive with Christ, even when I was dead in sin. By Grace of God, I have been saved, raised up with Christ. God wanted to show the riches of His grace, expressed in His kindness to us by Jesus. I have been saved by Grace, through faith, God's gift. It is not about what I do, it is about Who loved me. I have been prepared by God for good works. I was separate from Christ, excluded from God, without hope, without God with me and for me. I have been brought near to God by the blood of Jesus Christ. Jesus is my peace, He abolished the law, the regulation and created relationship with God. He reconciled me to God through the cross and put to death the hostility of sin. He came and preached peace. We have access to the Father God because of Jesus Christ. I am a fellow cistzen of the Kingdom of God, I am part of the people of the Kingdom. I am being built by the Holy Spirit to become the dwelling where He lives.

Living Truly, Dealing Truly, Loving Truly…… Wholly Consecrated To The Fullness Of Truth!

I started out today bowed before my AWE-GOD, then I took a walk with Jesus, walking and praying for my family that the Father God has divinely and purposefully given me to be in relationship with, love unconditionally and forgive always. He has created me and given me to them because His Iron Will sharpens our iron will purposefully through the relationships He has designed us for. He shapes us in and through our family relationships for His Kingdom good.

As wonderful as my loved ones are and as much as I miss them, they are not perfect! And if your loved ones are like mine, your relationship with them on earth has not been perfect either. To think of living forever in the same home with my brother would give one pause! But when we get to Heaven, the joy of seeing our loved ones once again is immeasurably increased when we realize that all of us will indeed be perfect! There will be no more . . . disagreements or cross words, hurt feelings or misunderstandings, neglect or busyness, interruptions or rivalry, jealousy or pride, selfishness or sin of any kind! Romans 10:1-17

Brethren, [with all] my heart's desire and goodwill for [Israel], I long and pray to God that they may be saved. 2 I bear them witness that they have a [certain] zeal and enthusiasm for God, but it is not enlightened and according to [correct and vital] knowledge. 3 For being ignorant of the righteousness that God ascribes [which makes one acceptable to Him in word, thought, and deed] and seeking to establish a righteousness (a means of salvation) of their own, they did not obey or submit themselves to God's righteousness. 4 For Christ is the end of the Law [the limit at which it ceases to be, for the Law leads up to Him Who is the fulfillment of its types, and in Him the purpose which it was designed to accomplish is fulfilled. That is, the purpose of the Law is fulfilled in Him] as the means of righteousness (right relationship to God) for everyone who trusts in and adheres to and relies on Him.

5 For Moses writes that the man who [can] practice the righteousness (perfect conformity to God's will) which is based on the Law [with all its intricate demands] shall live by it.(A) 6 But the righteousness based on faith [imputed by God and bringing right relationship with Him] says, Do not say in your heart, Who will ascend into Heaven? that is, to bring Christ down; 7 Or who will descend into the abyss? that is, to bring Christ up from the dead [as if we could be saved by our own efforts].(B) 8 But what does it say? The Word (God's message in Christ) is near you, on your lips and in your heart; that is, the Word (the message, the basis and object) of faith which we preach,(C) 9 Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart a person believes (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Christ) and so is justified (declared righteous, acceptable to God), and with the mouth he confesses (declares openly and speaks out freely his faith) and confirms [his] salvation. 11 The Scripture says, No man who believes in Him [who adheres to, relies on, and trusts in Him] will [ever] be put to shame or be disappointed.(D)12 [No one] for there is no distinction between Jew and Greek. The same Lord is Lord over all [of us] and He generously bestows His riches upon all who call upon Him [in faith]. 13 For everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord [invoking Him as Lord] will be saved.(E) 14 But how are people to call upon Him Whom they have not believed [in Whom they have no faith, on Whom they have no reliance]? And how are they to believe in Him [adhere to, trust in, and rely upon Him] of Whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without a preacher? 15 And how can men [be expected to] preach unless they are sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of those who bring glad tidings! [How welcome is the coming of those who preach the good news of His good things!](F) 16 But they have not all heeded the Gospel; for Isaiah says, Lord, who has believed (had faith in) what he has heard from us?(G) 17 So faith comes by hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the preaching [of the message that came from the lips] of Christ (the Messiah Himself).

Worthy News Brief @worthyemail.com

Kimberly, prepare for war!

Isaiah 59:17,19 For He put on righteousness as a breastplate, And a helmet of salvation on His head; He put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, And was clad with zeal as a cloak. So shall they fear The name of the Lord from the west, And His glory from the rising of the sun; When the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.

Romans 13:12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.

Over the past week, the possibility of war in the middle east has grown significantly. Last week, a National Intelligence Report (NIE) detailing Iran's significant progress towards military nuclear capability was delivered to President Obama. Over the weekend, Egypt's Prime Minister Morsi ousted his Defense minister along with the Egyptian Chief of Staff, in a radical shake up of the Egyptian army. The situation in Syria intensifies daily, with the growing possibility for transfer of their chemical weapons to terrorist organizations. Yesterday, it was announced that Israel began testing an SMS system to alert all Israelis of a possible war, (the regional test for our area is this Thursday). Gas masks are being distributed rapidly across the country; we received ours last month. Israel may very soon be at war. Meanwhile, we believers – we've been at war since we came to faith!

"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." Thus Paul instructed us in Ephesians. We fight against the kingdom of Satan. We fight with spiritual weapons; prayer, the Word of God, faith in His truth and His power– these are not carnal weapons but spiritual. We are seated in the heavenlies with Him [Ephesians 1:20], and in His authority we make our stand. The enemy's weapons are temptations, fiery darts of doubt and disbelief, discouragement, weariness, earthly pleasures. Thus the enemy distracts us from, and disarms us in the battle position. But what soldier goes to war without taking the equipment necessary for war? A soldier on the battlefield without his weapons is useless and helpless, and in great danger. So it is in the spiritual realm. We need to actively take up our spiritual armor and weapons to fight the enemy. And we have this promise -- when the enemy comes in -- like a flood the Spirit of the Lord shall raise up a standard against Him! Are you ready to make your stand in this day?

Kimberly, now, today, war is a very real threat in the physical realm – but it's already been here for millennia in the spiritual realm. So by all means necessary take up the armor of God today – stand with Him in faith and win your battle, one day at a time -- win the battle over your thoughts and your actions. YHVH Tz'vaot, "The LORD of Hosts" is with you, to strengthen, equip, and overcome; and His victory is assured!

Your family in the Lord with much agape love, George, Baht Rivka, Elianna & Obadiah

Church Social Justice

"Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers." 1 Timothy 6:10

The Church of Jesus Christ has the opportunity and obligation to serve the injustices of society in Jesus' name. Protecting the life of the unborn and elderly, providing for widows and orphans, caring for the sick and dying, and visiting those in jail or prison allows the church to engage in the culture. Compassion is not just a feeling, but a meaningful effort to get involved. A secular society needs a Savior to save its soul of injustice.

Who is the church? It is both an institution and the individual believers who make up the Body of Christ. We are responsible corporately and personally to serve society with good deeds and with the good news of salvation in Jesus. Words without works is dead faith, and works without words is ashamed faith. Thus, the Body of Christ is light and life for a dark and dying society.

"Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever." 1 Timothy 5:8

So, where does the family of faith first show it cares? You start by providing for your family: your household and your relatives. It may be transportation to get them to work, a prayer over the phone, a rent payment, groceries, or sponsoring their attendance at an intensive marriage retreat. Families who follow Jesus are a compelling force for good in the culture.

Secondly, the Body of Christ is to care for its own. There is a spiritual kinship that benefits those who serve the King of Kings. Who do you know in your church whose tears silently cry out for care? Who is too embarrassed to ask for financial help, but your anonymous generosity would be a tourniquet to their bleeding budget? The wounds of social injustice are a wake up call for aggressive acts of kindness.

"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." Galatians 6:2

Lastly, the Church is called to engage the culture as a whole in social justice. Serving the poor and needy, defending the rights of the unborn, and upholding biblical marriage are right strategies for the righteous. The good news of Jesus goes to the heart for salvation, the mind for renewal, and the body for purification. Social justice for the Church is modeling Christ's actions of preaching, teaching, giving, feeding and clothing. We love children and honor the elderly. As the Church grows in its influence the need for government lessens. Where the Lord reigns above—justice rains down on society.

"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." James 1:27

2 Keys to Moving Beyond the Danger of Comparison

"I'll never be able to write like that."

"If my church had the resources that church had then we'd be set."

"I sure wish God had given me the musical talent he has."

"What I would give to have as many church members as him."

Admit it, you've had thoughts just like this. Probably more than once.
Maybe even today.

We're all prone to compare ourselves to those around us. As a writer,
pastor, and musician I'm constantly wondering how I stack up next to others
out there doing similar things. Do people like me as much or more than
others?

Comparison is dangerous. Give yourself enough time comparing your meager
efforts in life and you'll begin to realize just how awful you really are.

Comparison is dangerous for what is does to you, underneath the surface. It
wages a war against your morale and puts you into a submission that forces
stagnation.

But comparison also tarnishes the Creator God who created you His image.
Consider Brennan Manning's tough words:

"Any attempt to measure the value of our lives by comparison and contrast
to others belittles our gifts and dishonors God by our ungratefulness
" (pg.
144, Ruthless Trust).

None of us want to dishonor the God who created us. None of us want to
remain stagnant by comparing ourselves to others. Yet we do it. Over and
over again.

Having struggled mightily with this over the past year, I've yet to rid my
life of comparison, but I have been able to overcome it much more often.

Rather than being stuck in the prison of comparison that damages my
self-worth and dishonors God I've allowed 2 principles to move me past the
danger of comparison.

1. Speak Truth to Yourself

If it sounds simple, that's because it is. In comparison to others, what is
lost is the truth about how God sees you and how He has gifted you.

Every morning I spend the first 15 to 45 minutes in prayer, meditation, and
reading. I always end the time by reciting this short and simple prayer of
truth:

*You are not defined by what you do. You are defined by who you are. You
are a son of the King."
Tyler Braun

Comparison sums up our lives by what we've done in the past rather than
looking to the future, and it certainly doesn't take stock of where our
identity should be placed.

Mere words or the recitation of a short prayer won't have a short term
effect but they could very well by the launching point for you.

It's often the smallest, incremental shift that leads to the most
significant change in our lives.

2. Discover and Develop Your Gifts

Comparison brings us down because we're trying to impute someone else's
gifts into our lives. God didn't create us that way.

We weren't created in order to try to become like someone else. We were
created to discover how God uniquely made us and to live out this creation.
But discovering is not the end game. We all know someone who has incredible
gifts and talents but squanders it all away by not developing what they've
discovered.

This is where the help and influence of others come in. I've yet to
discover a gift of mine without the influence of another person who helped
me see what I could not.

You cannot simply know your gifts, you must understand them.

We can know our gifts through textbooks but we must develop them by living
them out to truly understand them. Through our engagement of relationship
with God and others we can continue living out the creation within us.

God asks one thing of you: Be who you are created to be.

As the old saying goes, "Be who you is, cause if you ain't who you is, you
is who you ain't."

Those of you who have struggled to move beyond the danger of comparison,
please share some of your comparison story in the comments.

My Thoughts About This = Miraculous Musings! J

Comparison! I struggle with comparing other Christians to myself and what God has called me to be and do. When I do this, it takes the form of judgement. I judge them for what God has called me to and progressively worked in me through His purposes at play in my life. I compare myself to them and I judge them for doing things that God has asked me not to do. I judge them by comparison of the life perspective I have gained by personally following after God's plan for me. Some examples are some Christians drink alcohol, I don't because God has asked me to abstain. Some Christians go to "R" rated movies, I don't because God has asked me not too. There are TV shows God has asked me not to watch, other Christians watch them. I can't let what God has spoken to me personally, or is teaching me personally, be a comparison of what other Christians are doing or not doing, otherwise I get a really judgemental attitude.

Isaiah 30:18 ~ The Amplified Bible

And therefore the Lord [earnestly] waits [expecting, looking, and longing] to be gracious to you; and therefore He lifts Himself up, that He may have mercy on you and show loving-kindness to you. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are all those who [earnestly] wait for Him, who expect and look and long for Him [for His victory, His favor, His love, His peace, His joy, and His matchless, unbroken companionship]!

Philippians 2:8-11

He appeared as a man. He came down to the lowest level. He obeyed God completely, even though it led to his death. In fact, he died on a cross. 9 So God lifted him up to the highest place. He gave him the name that is above every name. 10 When the name of Jesus is spoken, everyone's knee will bow to worship him. Every knee in heaven and on earth and under the earth will bow to worship him. 11 Everyone's mouth will say that Jesus Christ is Lord. And God the Father will receive the glory.

Do you think I came to smooth things over and make everything nice? Not so. I've come to disrupt and confront! From now on, when you find five in a house, it will be—

Three against two, and two against three; Father against son, and son against father; Mother against daughter, and daughter against mother; Mother-in-law against bride, and bride against mother-in-law."

7 years ago, right before our closing, the bank changed things up (bait and switch) and instead of the mortgage we were approved for, said they could only offer us two mortgages at this time, which were really bad loans (mortgage equity loans). They said if we took them, they would change them out in six months for the mortgage we wanted. Instead of backing out and trusting God, instead of giving God time to work out His best for us, we made a bad mistake and took those loans, which of course in 6 months they said they could not change out. We paid the consequences for our human condition of impulsive-fix it mentality, instead of waiting on God's best and as hard as we tried, we could not get out of those bad mortgages for the last 7 years. God in all His Mercy, even though we don't deserve it, has lifted this consequence. What we entered into with finite stupidity, He has lifted in that Infinite-Miraculous way of His. We are so grateful for God's Mercy! AWE-GOD! To You, Jehovah Be The Glory! How cool it is that in the 7th year, God lifted the consequences. Wow! I am overwhelmed by our AWE-GOD and how He purposefully weaves His redemptive signature all through our lives!

LOL! Love it! Love the perspective and just love being called stupid and knowing that finite is as finite does, thank God for Infinite perspective! Everyone has a perspective gained by their God gifted personalities and the life experiences we gain from it. This is called opinion. I love America, because we can have opinions and we can learn and grow in personal perspective from everyone's creative opinion. Gays and Christians can live freely and express freely without the fear of being killed by the government for who they are in AMERICA! That is why we stood in line! Freedom expressed! But in the end, none of this stands, and we don't stand her on this earth, we stand before AWE-GOD! Our finite opinion is forever trumped by God's Truth and our finite lives and all we do with them will one day bow before the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. This is truly the only thing that matters forever. What you do now with your life matters because of the heart motive behind it and hopefully that heart motive is driven by the Passion Jesus Christ has for this world and all in it and the hope that we all will chose HIS Way, His TRUTH, His life because it is the only life that ends in eternity. As for me, if God calls me to stand in line and eat anything I would do it, because Jesus did what God asked HIM to do, died on a cross and how was that logical in anyway... how was that good for His body? Humanly logical? It wasn't to me, I still can't wrap my mind around why the King of Kings died on a cross for me, but I can wrap my mind around the result, my eternal life! So I cling tightly to Jesus, I dig my roots deeply in HIS Kingdom and I serve HIM 1st. Your article is written from a different perspective, it is your opinion, I don't agree with all of it, but I gleam from it your passion to eat healthy and live healthy and I learned from it, so thanks! I especially learned a lot from your wisdom on dimethylpolysiloxane. That is what America is about, living and learning together and the free expression of our perspectives. But in an Infinite perspective God is pleased when His people stand for HIM, for His Truth, His Freedom, His Way, and He see's our hearts in wanting to stand for a company that was under fire not for their food or the way they make it, but because they shared they agreed with the God created Sacrament of Marriage, the state government decided they should not do business in that state. And you missed the main point because standing in that line was not about condemning people for the way they live, that's God's job and He did pretty well at expressing how we should live in the Bible, including how we eat (as you also decided to judge others by) standing in that line and eating that food was about saying we have the "right" in America to our perspectives and no one can take that right of expression away! God see's our hearts and in the end HE will judge everyone for every motive, action, thought... yes we can have an opinion, a perspective, but in the end HE is the Final JUDGE! This Infinite AWE-GOD that we love and serve as finite beings, we could never begin to know or understand how His purposes in play in our lives everyday are working according to HIS control and by His divine direction and power. Just like the God purpose of Mike Huckabee declaring a Chicken day, you may see that as finite stupidity, but God designed it with great Kingdom purpose. We will never know and understand the mind, purposes and ways of GOD, so I guess calling others stupid is easier! Exercising a finite right may appear to be stupid and foolish from your perspective, but from God's perspective it is Infinite! Mike Huckabee was not the mastermind behind it, God was and it wasn't about chicken or dimethylpolysiloxane or human stupidity, it was all about HIM, His purposes in play in our mess, making His message about the Infinite reality of His Life, His Kingdom, for His Glory! None of us are truly free without God and His Truth and none of us have a future without God. Our 1st call is to HIM, not chicken, not our bodies, not our causes, not anything or anyone but HIM. If you want us to not be stupid with our bodies and make good healthy habits, HE is where you need to point people to 1st. Because if you are fully facing God, listening and obeying HIM, in relationship with HIM 1st, then whatever line you stand in on this earth has great eternal purpose! My first followship is to Jesus Christ, My Lord and Savior and to HIM and His Truth I stand forever true! So to call me "stupid" for something I do may be correct, but to call me "stupid" for who I am being is complete foolishness, because you, my finite friend cannot see my heart, but God can… Infinitely so!

What is a sin of omission? A sin of omission is passive permission for wrong. It does nothing when something needs to be said or done. It gives a pass to people or situations that require sticky confrontation. Sometimes the silence of good people makes them bad people. Their inertia of integrity condones unrighteous conduct. A sin of omission can be more damaging than a sin of commission. A quiet friend can be worse than a loud enemy. Wisdom Hunters http://wisdomhunters.com

2 Corinthians 4:13-16 Daily Renewed!

It is written, "I believed, and so I have spoken."—(Psalm 116:10) With that same spirit of faith we also believe. And we also speak. 14 We know that God raised the Lord Jesus from the dead. And he will also raise us up with Jesus. He will bring us with you to God in heaven. 15 All of that is for your benefit. God's grace is reaching more and more people. So they will become more and more thankful. They will give glory to God. 16 We don't give up. Our bodies are becoming weaker and weaker. But our spirits are being renewed day by day.

The Bible calls itself food. The value of food is not in the discussion it arouses but in the nourishment it imparts. Will Houghton

2012 Awe-God Gratefulness! Today I read a quote on a friend's facebook and I could not stop the gratitude from flowing out of me for God's Word. It is our food, it is our nourishment, it is our strength, it is our wisdom. In so many ways, more than we can count the Word of God is the food our soul, will, mind, spirit lives on. Amazing God-anointing on the Bible, so much so it can change hearts, attitudes and alter the destiny and ways of human beings. I am so grateful for the
Bible, God's Word and the freedom I have in this country to take it into my life as nourishment and live it!

Awaken us Lord Jesus! It is time for God's Voice to be heard. It is time for people to speak up, to talk it up with great God Love, courage and conviction! We are not a people called to a " temporary cause" we are a people called to an Infinite Almighty God 1st. Jesus is THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE. I believe in Jesus Christ! I have given my life to HIM. I will serve Jesus Christ 1st, letting His Spirit, His Love and His Divine Words of Truth lead me. I will stand for God, His Way, His Life, His Truth. I am All-IN! I do not speak "against" someone or something, I speak FOR and in AWE of my Almighty God, always and forever! I am grateful today for the freedom to do so, but if I did not have that freedom, I still would speak, love, follow and be ALL-IN with God and His Truth. It is not the freedom that gives me courage to live what I believe, it is HIM, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that has freed me, therefore I live, love and have my being in HIM. So as for me, I speak the Only Truth in the atmosphere of an Infinite-Powerful Love because the power of the Cross of Jesus Christ, has already defeated any lie the enemy can throw in my life-path and the spiritual battle of such things belongs to AWE-GOD! Jesus Christ is enough and I stand in His Truth with the power of His Cross. It is all about the power of the Cross and we will see the chains of deception, the blindness of deceit fall…. Learn the people.

I know. It sounds too simple, but until you learn how the people you are trying to lead think, what the people value, the differences among the people, how situations impact the people, and the way the people are likely to respond to situations…you can't lead them successfully.

Learn people and you can successfully lead people.

Try it. It will work in any setting. In the church. In business. In the home.

New to a church or organization? This is your key to beginning well.

Long-timer in a church or organization? This is what will improve your leadership. Make it last.

Of course, you'll have to respond according to what you're learning, but this is where you start. This is what gives you the tools you need. This is what can help shape your leadership. This is the gold information of leading people.

Learn the people and you can learn how to lead people.

I agree! I believe that I serve the people I lead. So, in my leadership it has a servant style that cares for those I lead personally. I do what I can do to let them know I care about them "more" than I care about the doings they are serving the ministry with. I want to add value to their lives first and more than I do the ministry. I believe in investing in them 1st before the ministry I have been tasked to. I do everything I can to know how they are doing in their inner heart life. I ask lots of "specific" open ended questions, so I can know how they are, so I can pray for them and encourage them in their walk with God.

Acts 14:22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

Recently, I've been impressed by the Lord to address the anxieties many are feeling about the future -- how to be strong in the face of the intense opposition we'll be facing as believers. One of the founders of the modern state of Israel, David Ben-Gurion once said, "Courage is a special kind of knowledge, the knowledge of how to fear what ought to be feared and how not to fear what ought not to be feared. From this knowledge comes an inner strength that inspires us to push on in the face of great difficulty. What can seem impossible is often possible with courage."

Kimberly, while Ben Gurion's words carry a certain worldly wisdom to inspire courage, we also can have courage which comes from a special kind of knowledge...the knowledge that we have a God who loves and supports and protects us and carries us through, even the most trying times and circumstances. So let's not become fearful in these days – but instead become bold as a lion, to accomplish the good works He prepared for us from the foundation of the world. Let's walk with courage in these days in the knowledge that our God is with us, and with Him we will accomplish great things that seem impossible, because we know that He turns impossibilities into realities!

Choose God's Standards, Not the World's By Joyce Meyer

Living above society's moral decline involves the choices we make regarding our conversations, the way we dress, what we read, and the TV shows and movies we watch. It also has to do with the level of integrity with which we live our personal lives, interact with other people and conduct ourselves in our businesses or professions.

As Christians, we need to encourage one another to live by godly standards and resist the pull of the world. A well-known quote offers some good advice: 'Watch your thoughts, for they become words. Watch your words, for they become actions. Watch your actions, for they become habits. Watch your habits, for they become character. Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.'

One of God's great gifts to mankind is the power of choice. If we want to enjoy the blessings He has for us, we need to make lifestyle choices that align with His Word and are consistent with the values of His Word, not choices reflecting the constantly eroding values of the world. Joyce Meyer

I urge you to make a decision to serve God wholly, putting Him first in everything you do.

Prayer Starter: God, I don't want to live by the world's standards. I put You first in my life, because I know that Your ways are the best.

You Matter By Boyd Bailey

"For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. Out of all the peoples on the face of the earth, the LORD has chosen you to be his treasured possession." Deuteronomy 14:2

You matter. You matter because you're made in the image of God. You are a blueprint of a beauty birthed out of heaven. Your physical makeup is beautiful, because the eye of your beloved beholder is your heavenly Father. Your intellectual capacity is attractive, because in Christ, you know the mind of Christ. Your emotional energy is engaging, because you are accepted and loved by God. You matter because your Master Jesus says you matter.

You matter. You matter because you are chosen by the Lord—you are His treasured possession. Jesus wants you to be with Him like a coach who recruits athletes; He has picked you to be on His team. He calls the plays and He expects you to excel in the position suited for your skills, gifts and experiences. You matter most to the Lord of Hosts. Since Jesus Christ thinks the world of you, He laid down His life for the world on your behalf.

"The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life." Job 33:4

What does it mean for you to be a treasured possession of Almighty God's? Like the Hope Diamond, He values your extreme worth. He protects you, He provides for you, He prays for you and He displays you as a proud trophy of His grace to a lost and hurting world. Yes, you matter. You matter because God owns you. And His ownership displays excellent stewardship. What He owns, He takes care of. What He owns He blesses.

Furthermore, as a precious possession of God's, your value increases over time. You are an eternal asset that appreciates in worth and significance. The allocations in your heavenly portfolio include faith, hope, love, grace and holiness. You matter. You matter, because you are filthy rich with the riches of Christ. You have been given much in your faith journey, so God expects much. Thus, you matter in helping others know they matter.

"From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked." Luke 12:48b

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you that I matter much to you, so lead me to help others know they matter to You as well.

My Thoughts About This = Miraculous Musings! J

It is interesting that as I get older, I "feel" like I matter less. Thankfully, I am learning not to chase my feelings, but pursue God with all my heart. Mattering is truly an issue as our hair grays, our hearts feels the need to matter more. I am not sure if it is a woman "thing" alone or if men struggle in this way too. Of all my years of life, I have never struggled more with this issue that "I matter" than now. I have to guard my heart against making "mattering" my emotional pursuit, instead of my 1st call to God. It is a difficult struggle as we get older and begin to feel we don't matter anymore. God finishes what He starts and this is a big truth that helps counteract this mid-life matter search! God's purposes don't stop working in our lives because we are getting older. There is always more to do for HIM and more to learn in HIM! Also, I always encourage myself with the truth that God does not change. His love, purposes and pursuit of us is the same no matter what our age!

We all have patterns of thinking and principles. When a person continually thinks the same way they have a mind set. Think on things that have value, the best things. We can set our minds on anything, it is our choice, as a person thinks in their heart so they become. Set your mind on the positive things and that positive mind set will make a difference in your life

Many policies are written because someone didn't want to solve a problem.

In her book "Unleashing the Power of Rubber Bands", Nancy Ortberg talks about the need to differentiate between "a tension to be managed and a problem to be solved". One example for me is the constant tension between the administration/money side of ministry and the discipleship/hands on side of ministry. As pastor, I'm always going to have to balance tension between our business administrator working to conserve cash and our youth pastor finding legitimate ministry needs in which to spend it, for example. That's a tension to be managed, not a problem to be solved. On the other hand, an employee who is taking advantage of a more casual organizational structure, which I typically prefer…that's a problem to be solved. Quickly. A system, which is not working, causing more harm than good to the organization…problem to be solved. Now.

Most of the time, however, in my experience, churches are notorious for creating a new policy to attempt to manage the problem rather than doing the difficult work of solving it. Solving the problem often involves getting personal with people. It involves challenging people. It involves change. It involves holding people accountable to a higher standard. That's messy. It's never fun. Most churches like neat, clean and seemingly easy. (Just being honest.)

Using my illustration above, if the youth pastor has a perceived spending problem, rather than addressing the problem with him directly, many times a policy is created to "solve" the problem and curtail spending. Every other staff member may be performing satisfactorily, but the policy controls everyone. Plus, without wise counsel, the youth pastor never learns principles of healthy budgeting or how to manage cash flow, for example, and it continues to impact his ministry for years to come. Problem not solved.

Policies are easy. They are a piece of paper. They may involve some discussion, perhaps a committee meeting (maybe even a tense committee meeting), maybe even a church vote, but they seldom specifically address the people who are causing the problem in the first place. They make people feel better about the problem, but they almost never solve real problems. In fact, they usually only create more problems…which later need to be solved!

For more of my thoughts on policies, see THIS POST. I realize this problem is not limited to churches. Even the best organizations and corporations struggle to address problems as needed.

My advice:

Manage the tensions, but solve the problems.

Do the hard work. It's what leaders are supposed to do. Not always easiest. Always best.

Have you seen churches (or organizations) try to manage a problem that needed to be solved?

I agree! Perspective is key! Perspective is the answer to understanding what causes the tension. Yes, I have lived it! I was a church financial admin secretary for years. I saw how miraculous it was, how God provided in His 29/59 kind of way. When you experience keeping the books at the church and you see the Provisional Hand of God, you want to protect that provision with great (tightwad) stewardship, it is only natural. I watched the finance committee meet and take papers in their hand that represented ministry and check it no because of lack of perspective. But, you have not experienced the other perspective of the miracles that happen daily in the discipleship area. A pastor once made us "shadow" each other for a week. One Admin & One Pastor paired up and we watched and lived in each other's "worlds". I gained a whole new perspective! We were no longer two silos containing our own corn to feed our "ministry", we were one. I have learned the problem with perspective is churches where their ministries become individual silos standing on their own, not really a good atmosphere for enlarging perspectives when the Pastor's Lay Council Board and the Staff have not walked in each other's shoes.

Isaiah 30:21

And your ears will hear a word behind you, saying, This is the way; walk in it, when you turn to the right hand and when you turn to the left.

Follow the Little Promptings

The Holy Spirit always wants to lead us through life, but sometimes we get so focused on seemingly "big" issues that we don't realize how much He speaks in small promptings every day.

I was on my way home one day and intended to stop and get a cup of coffee, when I had a strong impression that I should call my secretary and ask if she wanted a cup too. When I called, she said, 'I was just standing here thinking, I would love a good cup of coffee right now.'

You see, God wanted to give her the desire of her heart, and He wanted to work through me. I did not hear a loud voice or see an angel or have a vision. I simply had an inner sensing that I should offer her a cup of coffee.

In the same way, God wants to bless the people in your life. I encourage you today to keep your heart sensitive to God's voice. Follow the little promptings. He will speak to your heart and lead you in the way you should go.

Prayer Starter: Holy Spirit, I choose today to quiet myself so that I can hear Your little promptings. Show me ways that I can bless others.

Psalm 18:17-20 AWE-GOD Deliverer!

He delivered me from my strong enemy and from those who hated and abhorred me, for they were too strong for me. They confronted and came upon me in the day of my calamity, but the Lord was my stay and support. He brought me forth also into a large place; He was delivering me because He was pleased with me and delighted in me.

Developing My AWE-GOD With An Attitude Of Gratitude!

AWE-GOD Gratefulness. Jesus, you are always there with us, even when hardship suddenly comes into our life path; You are there and You bring a heavenly touch to an earthly situation gone awry! Thank You Lord for being my deliverer! You are always my Deliverer, even though sometimes the situation stays the same, but the touch of YOUR Peace, YOUR Hope becomes the focus and my soul is well and I can endure and "grow through"! Other times you take me right out of the situation and all I can do is stand in AWE of you. Both ways are good, because I know Your Purposes are in play for me. I am grateful to YOU, for Your Presence that is always working for my best. Thank you AWE-GOD!

AWE-GOD! I AM PROMISED!

Psalm 56 8-9 The Omnipresent Way-Maker Is For Me! He Cares!

You number and record my wanderings; put my tears into Your bottle—are they not in Your book? Then shall my enemies turn back in the day that I cry out; this I know, for God is for me!

A Seasoned Servant Of God Has Encouraged Me Today

Have you ever seen the pious and religious men and women of some sects of Judaism and Christianity who dress in black? Why black? A depressing and serious color. Why not pink, blue, or white…colors that reflect a more joyous feeling? I believe the answer is because many religious people believe they should not experience joy as a way of relating to the suffering of Christ. Although I can see their point and understand their rationale, I believe we should show our feelings honestly and unimpeded.

Worthy News Brief @worthyemail.com

Kimberly, it's never as bad as it seems!

Psalm 27:4-5 One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple. For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock.

.The world these days is full of bad news, with tensions growing in the Middle East, economies on the brink of collapse, and nature constantly adding to the chaos with one disaster after another. It's a time of trouble all right, and for us believers it may sometimes be hard to believe – but it never is as bad as it seems.

Kimberly, we are pilgrims in this dangerous world, which will wound us at times so badly it will seem unbearable – yet we have this promise from God, "in the time of trouble He will hide me". It's because my real life, my true life is in Him and with Him no matter what happens to me here. So when the world approaches me with a smoking gun, ready to put me out of my misery, I can find a supernatural strength, and simply say, "I never felt better!" My Thoughts About This = Miraculous Musings! J

Life is hard here in this world and it is so easy to fall into a pattern of focus that see's only the bad things. I believe in developing my AWE of God, and learning to hope huge in HIM, WHO He is. I would rather spend time doing that, then time despairing over things I can't change. God never changes, my life here does and lately it seems to be getting more and more frustrating and out of control. I want to respond to God, the one Who does not change, instead of reacting to this world that is constant flux. I truly do want to learn this, to change and slow down my life so I am not reacting with a horizontal "human conditioned reaction" but with a response that comes out of my vertical relationship with God.

Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life - a Daily Devotional

1 Samuel 2:7 The Lord makes poor and makes rich; He brings low and He lifts up.

(Amplified Bible)

God's Supernatural Favor By Joyce Meyer

There is a distinction between natural favor and supernatural favor. Natural favor must be earned, but supernatural favor is a gracious gift from God.

First Samuel 2:7 says, "The Lord makes poor and makes rich; He brings low and He lifts up." A perfect example of this is found in the life of Esther. God raised her up out of obscurity to become the queen of the entire land. He gave her favor with everyone she met, including the king.

Esther drew upon that favor to save herself and her people from being murdered by the evil Haman. She may have been afraid to go to the king and ask him to intervene, but Esther knew she had favor with God and pressed on with complete confidence in Him.

Like Esther, we should live with the freedom and liberty that comes from living in God's favor. Regardless of the circumstances that come into your life, believe God for supernatural favor.

Despite how hopeless things may seem, God can lift you up. If your life is in His hands, the light of the Lord shines upon you.

Prayer Starter: God, I don't rely on natural favor. Instead, I want to live in Your supernatural favor. With my life in Your hands, I know You can lift me up.

Without Your Favor AWE-GOD, my life is truly nothing. I need YOUR Favor in every step I take from every moment to every choice to every outcome, the common denominator of my success is the favor of AWE-GOD! I need to be more aware of my need for Your Favor Lord, and ask you more as I face things in this world that our so crazy-stupid, things that I can't even begin to face or imagine a way out. Your Favor is the tool You use as our Way-Maker and I am grateful for it Lord.

"Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves." Romans 12:9-10

I often forget that it's not about me. Humility reminds me that it's Him first, them, and then me. I struggle with keeping myself off the throne of my life. Only one King can reign over a surrendered soul and that's my Savior Jesus. Yet, daily, my old life seeks to dethrone the Lord with its selfish whims and spiritual disengagement. Fortunately, by faith through grace, I am able to resist the flesh's foolish coup to overtake Christ.

Love wins, only when we use it as our spiritual strategy of choice. Devotion to one another in love is irresistible to the recipient and extremely fulfilling to the dispenser of grace. Sometimes it seems easier to be devoted to the Lord than to another human being. Yet, devotion to each other need not be fickled when unconditional love is the motivation. Devotion loves deeply. Indeed, our unselfish devotion is the fruit of purity.

"Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart." 1 Peter 1:22

What does it mean to honor another above yourself? How do you honor someone who is not honorable? The gift of honor is not based on whether someone is deserving or not—it is based on whether they are breathing or not. So, as children we honor our parents by involving them in our lives. As parents, we honor our children by being available to aid them. As team members at work, we honor each other by helping one another succeed.

You extend honor when you listen with empathy and show compassion. You are honorable when you value a relationship over money. Honor wins when you respond in quiet humility, not loud hostility. It is honorable not to lower yourself to the dishonorable behavior of others, but to respond with direct and respectful conversation. You represent Jesus well, when you honor both those who know Him and those who don't.

Above all else, let your honor of others flow from your honor of the Lord. You honor Him best by becoming a living sacrifice of love and obedience to His expectations. Honor Him with your corporate worship at church and your individual service in Jesus' name. Honor Him by giving generously to the poor and needy. Honor Him with your body by remaining pure. Mostly, honor Him by being with Him to love and be loved. You know it's not about you when you gain joy and define JOY by: Jesus—Others—You.

"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. Philippians 2:3-4

Prayer: Dear Lord, show me how to make my life about first honoring You and others.

My Thoughts About This = Miraculous Musings! J

When you are in ministry with others, honoring them is so important. We don't honor others when we are competing with them, but when we are supporting them in all they venture to do. We honor others on our team by helping them succeed in all that God has called them too. Competition really does deplete the spirit of unity on our ministry teams and causes us to dishonor others. If you are on the same ministry team with someone, why do you feel the need to compete with them? You have the same God Purpose and the common denominator of being called to Jesus 1st! Competition on ministry teams just doesn't make Kingdom sense, but does show our human condition of self ambition driven by vanity and pride.

Commitment

Leaders draw people to them by charisma, what they say and do. Many leaders have a lot of charisma and a little commitment. Charisma gets you in the front door and commitment closes the back door so you can stay with your people.

Bill Butler · Subscribe · Top Commenter

The character of a leader is revealed by their level of COMMITMENT to unwavering principles, to steadfast beliefs, and to living out their values... most notably, wholehearted devotion.

LEADERS, make a COMMITMENT to BEING a person of INTEGRITY, to PERSEVERANCE in the face of challenges, to CONTINUAL personal IMPROVEMENT (lifelong learning).

Most importantly, leaders make a COMMITMENT to being a SERVANT... to BEING a person who continually GIVES. They don't need the limelight. They share the credit and give credit where it is due.

What is your level of COMMITMENT?

My Thoughts About This = Miraculous Musings! J

I am a servant warrior for Jesus Christ and my 1st call is to HIM, therefore my level of commitment is high. When I get out of holy alignment with God and I flip-flop my Vertical Relationship with God = "being" with My Horizontal relationship with others-ministry-work "doing", putting my priority on horizontal 1st, then my level of commitment is unbalanced and falls way down.

Graced Again! leadership wisdom from Ron edmondston

Here are 7 Tips for leaving "properly":

1. Make it a decision of prayer and conviction. The more you can remove your personality or personal comfort from the process, the more likely you will be able to convince people you are leaving on good terms and that you are following God's will and not your own. (As I mentioned previously, it may be that God has released you to make the decision. I find that true many times. Your first step, in my opinion, is to make sure you aren't violating something God has told you to do or not to do.)

2. Start properly. I know. This is a post about leaving. But, honestly, that process starts long before the door swings closed. The sooner you start preparing people for your eventual exit, the easier your exit will be accepted by people when you do leave. Help cross train for your area. Identify key leaders who could fill in for an interim. You don't even have to share all this information, but be thinking ahead of time who those people might be. Start making lists of things you do that others may not know. Think in terms of "if I'm not here, then…" and write some of that stuff down to share when you leave.

3. Discuss with and seek wisdom from one or two people you trust, who know you and the church. You'll need a sounding board to help you confirm your decision, but also to help determine the timing and approach of your exit.

4. Develop a plan, with counsel and prayer, of how and when you intend to proceed. You'll need to decide who to contact first, when, and how to tell the church. This will likely be different for every church.

5. Don't throw punches on the way out. There's never a win and often a lasting negative when a person lashes out in the final days of their involvement with a church. Any credibility gained can be quickly lost based on the way the person handles their exit.

5. Work to protect spouses and children. Ministry can be very cruel and may even get ugly before it heals. Don't allow your family dynamic to suffer because of the problems of the church.

6. Prepare your own emotions. It is likely to be hard leaving, even if things are miserable at the time. Chances are you've invested your heart in this church. You started with vision and enthusiasm. You felt a call to go there. You never intended things to turn out like this. Regardless of why you are leaving or what you are going to do next, it won't be easy walking away from something you have loved.

7. Don't end when you walk out the door. Be available to further assist them as needed in the months after you leave. It may not be welcomed or needed but offering is the graceful way to exit and the right thing to do.

Make this post better:

What would you add about leaving properly? Have you ever left when the church or organization was in turmoil? How did you handle your exit? Looking back, what did you learn to help others?

Don't Leave Impulsively – Leave In God's Timing. When God released me, I ran as fast as I could and I did not wait on His timing. I left a gap in the flow of ministry. God's timing is purposeful, He may release you from something and you feel that He has, but wait on His timing to go. In persevering until the timing is right, God finishes what He started, He bookends the season… if the season is not bookended by God's timing, you find yourself restless in your spirit when you begin a new thing, you have trouble focusing on the present. If you don't wait until God bookends that season and you leave a gap between the two season of your life, I find that is a spiritual open door for the enemy to come in and torture your mind! LOL! Been there and felt that!

Ron, very good post. Sadly, too many Pastors are engulfed in turmoil in their churches. The stress on the Pastor's wife and kids is heartwrenching. A deacon recently told me that it was just "part of the call" and it should be accepted else the family shouldn't be in ministry. Wow! Check out a book called "Pastor Abusers" by Kent Crockett and Mike Johnston. Thanks for your ministry.
Dr. Cobb

Oh how sad for a Deacon to say that… Deacons are gifted people and this gift has a different focus than most people in the church and sometimes you can see where if they don't balance out their giftedness, by being called to God1st, they get their horizontal and vertical church to God relationships mixed up! Vertical to God1st horizontal to church second! That kind of comment is what really discourages Pastors in times where they need the support to endure through.

Thankful in the Midst of Suffering By Joyce Meyer

The Bible encourages us to always be thankful. That's easy when God answers prayer and delivers us from problems. But it isn't always easy when things go wrong. So how can we remain thankful in the midst of suffering? We have two choices to make. The first is to praise God in spite of what's going on in our lives. Or another way to say that is, in the midst of our troubles and hardships, we can rejoice over the things that are not wrong in our lives.

The second choice is to ask, "God, what can I learn from this? What do You want to teach me through this so that I may be closer to You and rejoice more fully in Your goodness?" Those are not easy questions, and the answers are often hard to hear. Sometimes we can only grasp the important lessons in our lives when we go through difficult times. Thank God that the hard times will lead you to better things.

In the midst of suffering, give thanks to God and trust Him to lead you to bigger and better things.

Prayer Starter: God, I'm thankful for Your love and Your presence. Forgive me for grumbling when things go wrong, and remind me of how many things go right in my life. I want to rejoice in You always.

My Thoughts About This = Miraculous Musings! J

The first thing I think of when I read that God will lead me to bigger and better things is very worldly. God is not so much concerned for this world and all we can "get" here. He is more concerned with our heart and the things in our lives that will transfer to His Kingdom, things like patience, things like endurance, things like Kingdom wisdom and these I believe are the things that He treasures and the things that He wants to grow in us. To God, these things are bigger and better than anything He can bless us with in this world.

We have always been together in ministry and I love it. I know that God created him for me and created me for him and our giftedness, our personalities, our wisdom fits together perfectly, makes a complete package for God to use. When we were in military ministry, we stood before 500 soldiers per weekend and shared the gospel, taught and encouraged them, they called me MommaMac and they called him "Sir", as they received the Word strongly, firmly and with great tenacity from him and from me they received the same message, but with empathy, compassion and exhortation and as a team, God did great things through us.

PS… I loved the part where your office is accessible to your wife and she is in and out of it. What a great atmosphere to set. I was a Pastor's secretary for years and I can see how doing that would have been such a good witness for every marriage in that church. Just the daily visibility of "a three strand cord not easily broken"! I think sometimes the Pastorate sells short the sacrament of "marriage", it is not visible enough, the unity of the Pastor and His Wife, the flowing together of the giftedness of the two. Like you said the church usually assigns the pastor's wife things that take her out of sharing in the Sunday ministry. Things that lay leadership should and could do.

Worthy to Follow By Boyd Bailey

"Even if you had ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel. Therefore I urge you to imitate me. For this reason I have sent to you Timothy, my son whom I love, who is faithful in the Lord. He will remind you of my way of life in Christ Jesus, which agrees with what I teach everywhere in every church." 1 Corinthians 4:15-17

Spiritual fathers and mothers are necessary for growing disciples of Jesus. These are mature believers who have experienced bumps, bruises and brokenness over their lifetime of following the Lord. They know what it means to enjoy God's grace and peace, and they know how to give Him the glory in their success. These seasoned saints don't pretend to know it all; on the contrary, they are diligent students in the school of faith.

.Wise are we to be on the look out for older friends who are worthy to follow. Their humble heart attracts our heart and their keen mind challenges our thinking. It is out of our mentor's engagement with Jesus that they are able to parent us in the faith. Avoid a self-proclaimed sage, seek instead a servant of the gospel. We only imitate those who first imitate Christ. Who do I follow that will make me wiser tomorrow?

"Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ." 1 Corinthians 11:1 NKJV

What are the holy habits you see in other genuine Jesus followers? How do they spend their free time? Be on the look out for inspiration and creativity in growing your intimacy with Christ. Ask your spiritual parent what they read and how they hold themselves accountable to God's standards as defined in Holy Scripture. You become what you read and you become like those you are with. Gaining wisdom is not accidental, it's intentional.

If you want to grow in your prayer life, pray with people who know how to pray. If you want to grow in your Bible knowledge, study with those who know how to rightly interpret the word of truth. If you want to become a humble servant of Jesus, serve with those who quietly serve others in Jesus' name. If you want to learn contentment as a single adult, hang out with single adults who are content in Christ. If you want to become the best in your vocation, be with those who are the best in your vocation.

Above all else, make it your number one priority to first imitate Christ. As you grow in your love and obedience to the Lord, others will see that you are worthy of following. Embrace this privilege as an opportunity to give back what other generous souls have so freely given you. When you become a spiritual parent to newly born babes in Christ, you are accountable to parent them well. Indeed, you imitate Jesus and they imitate you!

"You became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you welcomed the message in the midst of severe suffering with the joy given by the Holy Spirit." 1 Thessalonians 1:6

Prayer: Lord Jesus, allow my heart to follow hard after you, so that I am worthy to be followed.

Exhortation- The Shepherd's Communicated Love-Wisdom!

Praying for Megan, hoping huge in God. It is so hard to wrap our finite minds around an Infinite and Sovereign Will of God. It is hard to understand suffering and it hurts so much to see those we love suffer and grow through things in which we would love to take their place, because we love them so. Kind of like the Father God must have felt when He sent His Son Jesus to die for us. My finite mind can't wrap around that one either. I pray God's healing for Megan and I hope His peace wraps around your soul Marie! I do know this and I can wrap my mind around this: Jesus loves you and Megan, He is with you and even though His Sovereign Will is hard to swallow at times, His Infinite Love is a part of that package. The Sovereign Will of God is never without His Infinite love and if His Will seems hard to adapt to, His Infinite love is right there and we can cling to it, we can dig our roots deeply in it. The Sovereign Will of God is active in our now, it is what we live, breathe and have our being in right now, yet the Infinite Love of Jesus, it adds another dimension of HOPE and points us to our great future and helps us settle our souls in the now with the hope of our future in God's Kingdom. Hoping HUGE in AWE-GOD. Asking for the most,

Proverbs 17:14 The beginning of strife is like letting out water, So abandon the quarrel before it breaks out.

Living Life Free of Strife By Joyce Meyer

Strife is one of the main weapons the enemy uses against Christians. I believe there are three things that open us up to a spirit of strife.

1. Our lips: Wrong words spoken at the wrong time can certainly start a firestorm. The more wrong words we pour on the fire, the bigger it gets. One way to stop a fire is to remove the fuel.
2. Our pride: Although wrong words may open us up to strife, it is a proud heart that refuses to be quiet in order to have peace. Pride demands that we have the last word, but the Word says it will lead to destruction (see Proverbs 16:18).
3. Our opinions: We can often get into strife by trying to convince others of our own opinions. When we realize we have much to learn and stop passing out our opinions, we will begin to gain the knowledge we need.

These are the three biggest areas that Satan uses to infiltrate our lives with strife. Make a decision to honor God and others by resisting strife and instead pursuing unity and understanding.

Prayer Starter: Holy Spirit, help me to stay on guard against strife. I give You my words and my opinions. I desire to walk strife-free in my relationships with others.

Thank you for this wisdom today Lord. I know I am struggling in this area with Bob. He wants to go forward with our refinance, even though, once again they have changed things up and we are going to end up with two loans instead of what we wanted. It reminds me of the mistake we did 7 years ago and I don't want to do it. I want to wait. But he says we will have to agree to disagree on this one. I have been "snotty"! This post from Joyce was very convicting and I do pray that today you take my opinion on this matter, I give it to YOU and help me to walk in respect and honor towards my husband. Because in this attitude, You reign, Your work and You move in our situations.

Amplified Bible

Taking Responsibility By Joyce Meyer

When life or people disappoint us, we have a responsibility to remain stable and continue with God's purpose for our lives.

Consider Psalm 94:12-13. Notice that it does not say that God keeps us calm. It says He gives us power to keep ourselves calm. We are partners with God. His part is to give us ability and our part is to be responsible.

Responsibility means 'to respond to the ability we have.' An irresponsible person wants God to do everything while he does nothing except follow his feelings. But don't let your feelings run the show. Declare out loud right now, "I have attended my last pity party." I can promise you: in the end you will feel much better about yourself if you take responsibility than if you avoid it.

God cares for you, but He won't do your part. He enables you to do it, but let me emphasize that He won't do it for you! I dare you to stand firm, take responsibility and begin working with God to have the blessed life He's planned for you.

Prayer Starter: God, Your Word says that You've given me the ability to remain calm. I receive that today. I won't let my feelings run my life, and I will be responsible and respond the way You want me to.

What an amazing bunch of wisdom in this teaching! Respond to the ability I do have and don't follow my feelings. I so need to do this. Especially when it comes to my book. I have a lot of work to do, I know God will equip me, I just need to jump in, work hard and get it done. I have to stop letting my age, my lack of knowledge stop me, I need to get the knowledge I need and stop giving in to the thoughts that I am too old. I need to take responsibility for that which God has called me to and equipped me for!

A Seasoned Servant Of God Has Encouraged Me Today

God doesn't tell us NOT to have feelings. He gives us guidelines for handling them. Spirituality doesn't mean having no feelings. Yeshua wept and rejoiced; Paul wrote openly about his feelings of despair as well as his confidence. King David danced for joy and admitted grief when he sinned. The fruit of the spirit includes joy. It is a gift from God. Why not show it?

"Love, joy, sadness, courage, and fear are all part of the existence God has given us. Your godliness is not measured like a Richter scale where we hope that we don't have any emotions measured. Your emotions are measured by how you allow the choices arising from those feelings to be governed by the Word and the Spirit of the Living God." (anonymous) Via Pastor Elliott Osowitt

I pray that today we all allow the Lord to govern our emotions. Pastor Elliott

2 Corinthians 10:3

For though we walk (live) in the flesh, we are not carrying on our warfare according to the flesh and using mere human weapons.

Graced Again! leadership wisdom from Ron edmondston

Here are 4 words of advice for the newbie leader:

Never use the word "newbie" again. (Just kidding. That's not one of the four. But, seriously, is there a better word).

The real 4:

Learn the people first - Relational leadership is always most effective, but especially for a new leader. They need to learn to trust you. They need an opportunity to feel you are committed and connected to them. They want assurance you have the best interest at heart for them and the church or organization they've loved probably longer than you have.

Go slow to change – The older the church or organization, the more important it will be that you take time to implement change. Know the key players, communicate, communicate, communicate, and help people understand why the change is needed. All change is resisted, but fast change is most powerfully rejected. This doesn't mean don't change. Most likely they'll expect and even want some change, but be smart about it. Listen and learn the things you can change immediately and things where you'll need to move more slowly. That process takes time to do well.

Think intentionally in all you do – The more you can strategically plan your moves, the more you can help steer them to a positive outcome. In every area of your leadership, take time to think through the best way to handle the situation. Get input from key people. Plan your approach. Prioritize. Strategize. You'll have plenty of surprises along the way, but if you're intentional in the decisions you have control over, you'll be better prepared to handle the unexpected.

Pace your leadership for the long-term – You won't often know the length of your tenure as leader, but you should script yourself to be there for the long haul. That means you shouldn't try to accomplish everything in the beginning. Spread some of your enthusiasm and energy over the first year or more. It will keep momentum going longer, keep you from burning out and the church or organization from wearing out. Also, think for the church or organization beyond even you. How can things keep building, healthy, vibrant and growing for the years ahead? When you set worthy visions and goals that carry people forward, help them dream and give them hope, they will want to follow your leadership.

Have you ever been the new guy? What would you advise?

Your Three Best Weapons

Through careful strategy and cunning deceit, Satan attempts to wage war against you and keep you in a mindset of defeat. But God has given you spiritual weapons to use against him. Here are the main three spiritual weapons you can use to fight off the enemy:

1. God's Word: Receive it through preaching, teaching, reading and private Bible study. Continue in the Word until it becomes revelation given by inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

2. Praise: This defeats the devil faster and more efficiently than any other battle plan, but it must be genuine heart-praise, not just lip service or a religious ritual.

I pray one prayer for myself a lot is that I might decrease and God might increase, but lately I have been tagging that with a heartfelt, that HIS Kingdom passion might increase and the worldly desires in me might decrease! I want to be one of those Kingdom people!

Interesting Spiritual Analogy! My truck broke down, just stopped being able to go forward! We all assumed it was the fuel pump because that was the logical conclusion! BUT it was not! It was a corrosion on the wiring harness that causes a misfiring to the fuel pump! I have to admit, I can relate to my truck! The world tends to corrode my inner wiring and causes a misfiring to my passion, my call to being God's 1st to being called to HIM alone and therefore I stop "growing" forward. I can get all pumped up emotionally about something, but the culture I run in causes corroded wiring and I misfire and end up growing no where but down hill fast. I learned a lesson from my truck of all things… it is important to keep my heart clean, purified from cultural smut… fasting is a good thing if I want to keep "growing forward"! AWE-GOD!

Dead Heroes

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith." Hebrews 12:1-2a

Dead heroes are the most dependable, because they are in a position where they cannot mess up. Their legacy had been sealed in death and now they speak from the influence they left behind. Dead heroes inspire with their memory of love, wisdom and perseverance. They have stood the test of time having stood with courage in the face of adverse conditions, even to the point of death. Dead heroes bring love and faith to life.

We think about Abraham and our faith is energized. We mull on Moses and humility grips our heart. We read about David and come away with courage and the conviction to be accountable. Solomon soaks our minds with wisdom and Hannah moves our hearts to pray. Naomi inspires encouragement and Ruth instills obedience. These heroes of the faith facilitate faithfulness to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Heroes arouse hope.

"By faith Abel brought God a better offering than Cain did. By faith he was commended as righteous, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith Abel still speaks, even though he is dead." Hebrews 11:4

Who are your heroes of the faith? Who do you look to as an example of love and obedience to God? Your heroes shape your soul—they inspire your spirit—and they mold your mind. What about Paul who gave up religious snobbery and elitism in exchange for becoming a bondservant of Jesus Christ? His intelligence and Holy Spirit inspired insight into Scripture and the human psyche requires a lifetime of study. He is a hero worth understanding and emulating. Raise your bar of admiration for the saints of old.

Certainly we are wise to avoid hero worship, this is worse than following the wrong example—it is idolatry. Jesus Christ alone is your object of affection, adoration and praise. He is your hero of heroes. Ultimately, all roads of respect merge back to the throne of our trusted savior, King Jesus. His example inspires you to endure in doing what's right and His Spirit empowers you in service for Him. Jesus is your hero who was momentarily dead, but is now alive in you. Look to heroes who give you life in Christ!

"Who is this King of glory?? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is he, this King of glory??The Lord Almighty—he is the King of glory." Psalm 24:8-10

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I pray my heroes are a reflection of You and Your priorities.

I think of them more as "Infinite Heroes" because their living legacy is eternalized on earth as it is in heaven. I am so grateful for them. I was just reading in Philippians 2 the other day and thinking of how much Paul and Timothy taught us and how much I would like my life to look like theirs did. They had that servant warrior kind of thing going on and they had "team hearts", where they were encouraging the atmosphere of sharing in the mission of the Gospel. Pretty Cool the "Infinite Heroes" and their living legacies that are such a huge part of God's shaping of our lives! Love it! Thanks!

Worthy News Brief @worthyemail.com

Kimberly, have mercy on me!

Jonah 4:1-5 But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he became angry. So he prayed to the LORD, and said, "Ah, LORD, was not this what I said when I was still in my country? Therefore I fled previously to Tarshish; for I know that You [are] a gracious and merciful God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, One who relents from doing harm. "Therefore now, O LORD, please take my life from me, for [it is] better for me to die than to live!" Then the LORD said, "[Is it] right for you to be angry?" So Jonah went out of the city and sat on the east side of the city. There he made himself a shelter and sat under it in the shade, till he might see what would become of the city.

We continue looking at Jonah, and find him in Chapter 4 displeased with God's mercy toward Nivevah. The Assyrians were arch-enemies of Israel and among the cruelest nations in history. Instead of being elated that God spared 120,000 Ninevites Jonah preferred to see his own pronouncement of judgment executed by the Lord. "Let those Assyrians get what's coming to them – they deserve to go to hell without any mercy for how they've treated Israel!" The Hebrew word "charah", " to be hot, furious, burn, become angry, be kindled" is a very strong expression for Jonah's feelings as he leaves the city of Nineveh and sets up a shelter to watch what will happen – he seems to be hoping that God might change His mind and destroy Nineveh anyway.

Have you ever felt this way? Someone has really hurt you; really done evil to you more than once – you knew from God's point of view he was "begging for a bolt" (of lightening), and you wished judgment would rain upon him. The last thing you want to do is warn him to stop; you want justice, not mercy; maybe even............revenge! Would you have the courage to admit that? To be really honest with God? Tell Him how disappointed you are that your tormentor hasn't been hit by a truck or developed a brain malignancy?

Jonah's honesty is commendable. How many of us would try to hide feelings like that, even from ourselves? "Please take my life." Jonah says. But the Lord understands. Instead of condemning Jonah for his merciless attitude He tries to reason with His prophet. "`Is doing good displeasing to thee?' He asks Jonah. Then Jonah's misery is compounded when the plant God gives him for shade withers and dies. Depressed and angry, Jonah reveals the depth of depravity in human nature. ""It is right for me to be angry, even to death!" he pines. He cannot find joy in the mercy of God.

Kimberly, I shudder to think of what would happen to me if I received God's justice for my sins. I would not want to wish His punishment even on my worst enemies. Perhaps Jonah didn't realize that his own attitude was displeasing to God and also deserved His judgment. I'm so thankful for God's mercy to us. We should bless our enemies and pray for those who despitefully use us; we should overcome evil with good. Mercy triumphs over judgment. The Lord gives us the power to be like Him. He did it by dying on the cross and rising from the dead, after three days. Jonah was a sign of this, remember?

My Thoughts About This = Miraculous Musings! J

Honestly, the more I know about my AWE-GOD and His Justice, the less I want my kind of "human conditioned" justice. God's Justice spans from here to there unto forever. My "justice" my making things right by my way, it only hurts me and it has no effect on eternity. When I try to make things "fair" it usually detracts and detains me from the mission God had for me and takes me off on bunny trails where I usually end up very wounded. My justice and making things right my way… it dead ends here. Over the years of having a relationship with God, I have learned that God is a God of Justice. He will set things right in His Own Way, Own Time, but HE WILL DO IT… it may not be this side of heaven, but no doubt about it, God will make things right, He will judge and bring Justice to everyone and in every situation you have faced… there will be God Justice… eventually all is God Good!

J. D. Greear brought God's Word to us this past Sunday. The re-stream will be online tonight at 7:00 p.m. It's worth hearing, or hearing again. It's worth responding to? How does one respond to a good message? Is it in one ear and out the other? Do we actually make a change in our life habits when we listen to a good challenge? Greear says: "There are two ways to try to bring about change.

• External change–

• The other way is organic change. Internal change.

Religion changes you by focusing on your actions and behavior. The gospel changes you by changing the desires of our heart, so that your behavior changes as your heart changes." It's hard to die to self, to put my baser desires in the trash and allow the Holy Spirit to nurture new desires within me. Chatting about it helps . Thanks for listening.

My Thoughts About This = Miraculous Musings! J

Thanks for sharing Steve. You always encourage us to "grow deeper" I like that about you! It is hard! Yet when we think about Jesus and how our King of Heaven "abased" Himself, so that we might live, that in itself is so humbling. And we also see how He clung to His Father God in a sweet, sweet relationship, that is so inspiring. I guess for me from moment to choice I need to make sure I am in relationship with God and not doing anything out of a "religious" motive, but out of my relationship with my AWE-God!

Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life - a Daily Devotional

2 Corinthians 10:3 For though we walk (live) in the flesh, we are not carrying on our warfare according to the flesh and using mere human weapons. (Amplified Bible)

Your Three Best Weapons By Joyce Meyer

3. Prayer: Prayer is relationship with the Godhead. It is communication with God, asking Him for help or talking with Him about whatever is on your heart. To have an effective prayer life, we must develop an intimate, personal relationship with the Father. Know that He loves you and that He wants to help you.

There is a war going on, but God is fighting on your side and has given you the weapons you need. Use them to send Satan running!

Prayer Starter: Lord, thank You so much for giving me the spiritual weapons I need to fight my enemy. With Your help, I know that I can win the battle today!

2 Corinthians 10:3

Graced Again! leadership wisdom from Ron edmondston

Here are 5 ways to help people perceive you are authentic:

Dress your age – This is a biggie for me and my goal these days. I'm 48. There are some "cool" styles that aren't cool for 48 year olds. Knowing the difference is huge. Each season of life seems to have it's own style. Dress within yours. If you aren't sure, ask some people around you whom you trust. (Again, my boys help me.)

Admit your mistakes – Take responsibility for the things you've done wrong or when a project that goes wrong was your idea. Own up to your bad decisions. If you pass blame or refuse to own up to a problem you'll be perceived as a weak and pretend leader.

Be honest – Don't exaggerate who you are, your position, influence, or knowledge. Don't pretend your church or organization is bigger than it really is. Tell the truth about you and the organization you lead. People can usually spot a phony and dismiss your influence in their life.

Don't try to impress others – The harder you try the less they seem to be impressed. Be yourself, not who you wish you were. You do the best you of anyone.

Be a good listener – Be slower to speak. Don't always have the answer. Even when you do, sometimes back off and let someone else take the lead. You show people you're real if you act like they are…and that it is worth hearing what they have to say.

What else would you add?

Great post! I agree, even though I seem to have my own "personal style" the basic form of it fits my age. Be-LAME! Is a great way I remember not to blame. Exaggeration is something that dominated my past life and God worked hard to get that out of my life. I have to guard against it. The more God controls the all of me, the less I need to impress others. Still working on the being a good listener one, that is a work in progress for me! I trip over my design, God made me wordy so listening is the side of my giftedness that needs to be continually worked on.

I would add be careful with "nostalgia". It is good to look back, but sometimes "nostalgia" becomes a shiny trophy we are constantly drawing attention too. Because God is always doing a "new thing" this is where the genuine of your life will shine. If you get stuck in the nostalgia of the past, it is kind of makes your genuine life look like a flat paint that does not reflect LIGHT. Me I prefer a life of genuine glory glow, which looks like a coat of enamel paint. Is your authentic flat or enamel?

Procrastination!

#1 Challenge in life! We know what to do, we just don't do it. The gap between knowing and learning is a big one. Heart knowledge, the heart to begin, I am going to begin. Who motivates me? Without initiate, nothing ever happens. All is well that begins well. When we procrastinate, success never comes our way.

My Thoughts About This = Miraculous Musings! J

I have to admit, this can be a huge stumbling block for me. It seems like time is flying by and that makes stumbling into procrastination a bigger pile of stress for me, because the more I procrastinate, the longer and wider my priority list becomes and the less time I have to do what God has called me too! I get tired thinking about it! Procrastination is my enemy and the Holy Spirit is my best Advocate to winning this battle! AWE-GOD!

We must have the heart to love + motivate ourselves to get started and finish our assignments and goals. So what are you waiting on? Love your ASSIGNMENT and trust yourself to push and go after it. If the love is not there, then be willing to be honest enough to go find where it is. In the end, it is the love for what you do that ultimately, drives the doing. So let's get to work and stay on task. PROCRASTINATION is simply a dead end. No growth. No fruit. No results. Instead, Be contagious. Let the passion of who you truly are, drive out the fear, the doubts and PROCRASTINATION today. You already know what to do. Now let's go do it!

PROCRASTINATION -is the number One killer of DREAMS and you reaching your potential! I would say that in America it has reached epidemic proportions..... most people fall to deal with what is important... they procrastinate because the chance the urgent and the easy.... it is not that we are not doing things.... most are doing way too much! It is we are not focused or doing what is important in our personal lives, career, finances, relationships, mate, children, friends... etc. So DO NOT think that you are not procrastinating because you are doing a lot of things.....make sure you are doing the IMPORTANT things! So get up and get going on doing the important things! You will be amazed at the impact!

Great Minds Great Thinkers International

Live in the consciousness of the fact that PROCRASTINATION is a killer agent that is very determined to rip you off your time and in other words, your life. The world is a battle ground between good and evil. So it is your time to kill this agent called procrastination before it kills you and leaves you with no other choice than to force you kiss regrets.
WOW! I can just hear you say: That is not my portion! I agree with you on that one! That can NEVER be your portion because you are stronger than procrastination and you possess all the strength you need to shake it off.

****My Prayer! For The Guatemala Mission Team – Pastor Kevin & Julie! I Place All My Expectation In You, Almighty God!*****

Psalm 18:18-23

They confronted and came upon me in the day of my calamity, but the Lord was my stay and support.

19 He brought me forth also into a large place; He was delivering me because He was pleased with me and delighted in me. 20 The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness (my conscious integrity and sincerity with Him); according to the cleanness of my hands has He recompensed me. 21 For I have kept the ways of the Lord and have not wickedly departed from my God. 22 For all His ordinances were before me, and I put not away His statutes from me. 23 I was upright before Him and blameless with Him, ever [on guard] to keep myself free from my sin and guilt.
