He Took on the Status of a Slave~If you've gotten anything at all out of following Christ, if his love has made any difference in your life, if being in a community of the Spirit means anything to you, if you have a heart, if you care— then do me a favor: Agree with each other, love each other, be deep-spirited friends. Don't push your way to the front; don't sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Don't be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand.

Developing My AWE-GOD With An Attitude Of Gratitude!

2012 AWE-GOD Gratefulness! I am so thankful for the perseverance of The Holy Spirit in how He doesn't give up on me and how He doesn't let me give up on me. When I "feel" like I can't, He shows me I can't do it by myself, but I can do it with and by His help, His wisdom, His strength, His hope, His peace, His promise, HIS purposes in play in my life. I am grateful that the Holy Spirit brings me to a place where I know I can't do this season of my life without HIM. Thank you Triune AWE-GOD! Exhortation- The Shepherd's Communicated Love-Wisdom!

Sometimes we are not meant to understand what God has "allowed" in our lives. We can't see His purposes in play in our lives and we don't see the whole picture like He does. Today you have exactly what you need and that is JESUS, He is more than you or anyone else needs and in every moment of your life, He has a good plan and reason for it. I pray for you today, that you will cling tighter to God, dig your roots deeper in His Kingdom. Let go of your need to understand, grasp the truth, the promise, the hope of Jesus Christ, and know the future He has provided for you. We don't belong here, this is a fallen world and nothing will be perfect. Psalm 62:5 has it right… put all your hope and expectations in Jesus and live, live your today in HOPE of HIM. We have no idea how rich we really are. I pray God gives you a glimpse of what you do have as you take your eyes off of what you don't have. Believe me, I am no different from you, I am preaching to myself! We can "grow through" this season of life, we CAN do it because of Christ in us. We CAN Trust HIM when we don't understand HIS Ways, because we KNOW… He promised… eventually all is good! Praying for us both to endure, "grow through" this day in the love and joy of Jesus! JOY meaning us putting Jesus 1^st Others 2^nd You (Us) 3^rd.

God Wants Us to Ask!

If we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. 1 John 5:15, NKJV

During the days of Ezekiel, God poured out His heart and shared what He wanted to do for His beloved people. Then He revealed an astonishing fact: "I will yet for this be enquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them" (Eze. 36:37, KJV). God was waiting to be asked!

My mother said that if there are any tears shed in heaven, they are going to be shed over all the answers to prayer for which no one ever bothered to ask! What blessing is God waiting to give you, but you haven't asked Him for it?

Why does He wait for us to ask? Maybe He wants us to acknowledge our need of Him. Maybe it's one way of getting our attention. Maybe it's the only way we will know when the answer comes that it comes from Him, and we don't credit ourselves or someone else for it.

Experience a New Beginning

The Bible is filled with stories about people who experienced new beginnings. Moses became a leader after being a shepherd for 40 years. Paul hated Christ until God renewed him and made him the greatest apostle of all time.

When we receive Jesus as our Savior, it is the ultimate new beginning. We become new creatures with an opportunity to learn a new way of living. But the first step to experiencing that new life is believing that it's available to you.

Ephesians 4:23 says we must be constantly renewed in our minds and attitudes. It's easy to read about great people in the Bible and think that you are nothing like them, but when you start to think that, you need to renew your mind right away.

Choose to think according to God's Word, not how you feel. Receive His love and experience a new beginning. Life will become so much sweeter if you live with an attitude that says "God is completely changing me from the inside out. He's giving me a new beginning and there are greater things ahead."

Prayer Starter: Lord, I renew my mind in You. I know that You have a new beginning and a calling for me just like you did for Moses and Paul. I receive it today, believing that You can bring it to pass.

Last week, was a hellish nightmare of a week for me. Last night I was online with the 7pm service and I heard the message. I realize now is the time I need to stop chasing my feelings about this season of my life and how impossible it is for me to live it, I need to lay down my feelings at the foot of the cross and look up and see once again the TRUTH that Jesus lived the impossible and out of it, He made eternal life possible for me. There is no worldly possibility that I can cling to, it is not big enough and it is illusive and deceptive. My hope, my BIG true possibility is in Jesus, in my future with HIM. His Kingdom Is GREAT! No doubt about it! Help me Jesus to live according to YOUR Word, YOUR Way, YOUR life and not according to my little perspective. You are A BIG GOD! Help me to act like I know and believe that. You can "grow me through" anything this little world dishes out, because YOU AND YOUR KINGDOM ARE BIGGER-BETTER-BEST!

This is what I know: "I know that the Lord is always with me. He is at my right hand. I will always be secure." Psalm 16:8 NIRV I may not feel this way when my emotions are raging during the storms of life, but I KNOW this to be TRUE!

Dear Bob and Kim,

Let's just stop for a moment together and give thanks. Do you realize that not even your father or your mother could have ever given you the peace down deep in your soul like Jesus does? As Christian parents and grandparents, our calling is to bring our children and grandchildren to the only One who can grant this wonderful peace. I can promise you that the Holy Spirit can give you the words to pray to heal your injured body and troubled soul, just as your mom used to tend to your skinned knees as a child. Mom put ointments and Band-Aids on our knees; Jesus puts peace in our soul.

Horatio G. Spafford wrote my favorite hymn as the Holy Spirit was lifting his grief and pain after the loss of his wife and four daughters at sea. Maybe you can hear this as your read it…

Thank you, that was perfect timing, a great encouragement for my bruised soul.

I keep asking myself, can life dish out anything worse and the enemy keeps proving that he can. BUT GOD, His peace is my greatest treasure in this life and the TRUTH that I cling to about my future in His Kingdom, it steadies my soul. Many are the trials of the righteous, but God is FAITHFUL, to deliver us out of them all. I feel battered and bruised after last week, what a hellish nightmare, but I am also grateful that of all the things we face in this life, they seem little as I fully FACE AWE-GOD! He is a BIG GOD, this is a little world, with an enemy with little time left. Infinitely so… our God Reigns! The trials, temptations, tempests my enemy sends my way with scheming devilish delight, only prove the BIGGER GOD PURPOSE at play in my life is to "flesh out" and bring in more of His Kingdom, less of this world and me!

God's Glory Revealed

"So Moses thought, "I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up." When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, "Moses! Moses!" Exodus 3:3-4

The glory of God is revealed through humility, not pride. He chose a humble thorn bush, not a proud oak tree. It's to the lowly lovers of the Lord that he shows Himself in His regal righteousness. Indeed, the fire of the Holy Spirit burns brightly in a life combustible for Christ. The fire of faith will not be extinguished in a humble heart that burns for God.

As disciples of Jesus, we are called to be His humble servants. It is not the places of honor that we seek, but the place of dependency that we desire. The lower the status of self is relegated, the higher we look up to our Lord in reverence. Christ is within us for salvation and companionship, but He is above us for worship and praise. He is our confidant and our Lord—our Savior and our Master. We are His friend and follower.

"Jesus replied, "If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing. My Father, whom you claim as your God, is the one who glorifies me." John 8:54

When you confess Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you glorify your Father in heaven. When your behavior follows the behavior of Christ you bring Him glory. God reveals His glory through your humble service in your home. Your gracious attitude at work is a commercial for the Lord's glory. His glory is revealed when you revel in His forgiveness toward you and are gracious to extend forgiveness toward others.

You are the Lord's light that carries His glory. The enemy tries to extinguish your eternal illumination, but your integrity shines forth. He wants to hide your light under his bushel of disbelief, but you add fuel to the fire by quoting Christ's transforming truth to him. God's glory is your rear guard, your covering overhead, and your torch for Him to guide your next step. He reveals His glory in you and through you for His own glory!

"For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory displayed in the face of Christ." 2 Corinthians 4:6

He made the storm as quiet as a whisper. The waves of the ocean calmed down.

Richard Wurmbrand, a Romanian Jewish Believer and an amazing man of God, spent 14 years in communist prisons where he was tortured brutally for his faith, then lived to tell about it. In his book, The Oracles of God, he writes about acquiring inner peace and tells the following powerful story.

During a tempest at sea when a ship was being tossed to and fro by the angry waves, the wife of a naval officer asked her husband, "How can you be so calm in such a storm?"

The officer drew his sword, pointed it at his wife's breast, and asked, "Why are you calm and unafraid?" Surprised, she protested, "Why should I be afraid? The sword is in the hand of my husband who loves me too much to harm me."

Her husband smiled and said, "This is the source of my calm, too. The wind and the waves are in the hands of my loving Father. Why should I be afraid?"

Kimberly, are you in a tempest with waves roaring around you? Or is there a sword pointed directly at your breast? Why should you be afraid? Your Father is right there with you. He loves you and is so happy when you simply trust Him and refuse to be overwhelmed with fear; no matter what's happening now, or may happen soon. You may not understand, but you can stand on His character and the eternal relationship He has with you.

Trust is who we are. It is part of our DNA, Our Savior stamped on our infant soul "trut in me is required". Since we took our first breathe, until we take our last breathe, we are required to trust God. There is no getting around His requirement. He made us trust in the beginning, so we would learn to continue a life of trust in Him.

We were born desperately needy. The milk from our mother's breast sustained our life.

At the genesis of our faith we were infants who sucked life from our Savior Jesus. He was air for our soul. We trusted Him totally as our redeemer and refuge. Trust was required then. Trust is required now. Boyd Bailey

FOR THE rest, my brethren, delight yourselves in the Lord and continue to rejoice that you are in Him. To keep writing to you [over and over] of the same things is not irksome to me, and it is [a precaution] for your safety.2 Look out for those dogs [Judaizers, legalists], look out for those mischief-makers, look out for those who mutilate the flesh.3 For we [Christians] are the true circumcision, who worship God in spirit and by the Spirit of God and exult and glory and pride ourselves in Jesus Christ, and put no confidence or dependence [on what we are] in the flesh and on outward privileges and physical advantages and external appearances--4 Though for myself I have [at least grounds] to rely on the flesh. I feel very inadequate praying for you in this area, because I have failed here many times, BUT GOD... He is powerful in purpose and I pray for you my friend, that God in all HIS incredible ways will "flesh out" your finite and bring in His Infinite into this situation. Because with your willing heart, HE can do all things and He can do them in that special way of HIS. "'If a person sins because he does not speak up when he hears a public charge to testify regarding something he has seen or learned about, he will be held responsible.'" Leviticus 5:1

Responsible people speak up when necessary. Sometimes, it is easier to remain silent, but God has not called us to a path of least resistance. We can stay silent but eventually it will come out. It may come out in angry passive-aggressive reactions related to our uncommunicated observations or it may express itself in built-up resentment or bitterness that eats away at our good nature and steals our joy. Suffering in silence is not God's design. He wants us to speak up under the influence of His Spirit. Even if the words are hard and direct, God's Spirit can deliver them in a loving manner.

hen you speak up, it means you care. We love the person too much to allow them to hurt themselves and others with self-inflicted attitudes and inappropriate actions. This is especially hard for men. Pride and ego keep us from being vulnerable to rejection or relational controversy, but we owe it to God, to others, and ourselves to "speak the truth in love" (Ephesians 4:15). Love compels you to take a relational risk and say something. Be faithful to speak the words, and trust God with the results.

Furthermore, make sure to speak up and defend those who are defenseless. Rise to the defense of widows, orphans, and the poor who are crushed under the weight of the world's injustice. You may not have to look very far. There may be family members who need your attention. Second, third, and fourth chances are called for to model Christ's attitude of acceptance. Your reputation may become soiled because you choose to speak up on behalf of a seedy soul, but trust God. We can relate best to sinners because we suffer from the same temptations and sorrows. Christians are sinners saved by the grace of God, no one is beyond God's reach.

Lastly, speak up for and serve the poor. The poor need a person they can trust. The poor need us to give them a voice against the greedy souls who seek to take advantage of them. They need financial training; they need medical supplies and education; they need nutrition; they need jobs; they need indoor plumbing; they need shoes on their feet and clothes on their backs. Mostly, they need a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. The poor are drawn to Jesus when they see God's people stand up for them. They are attracted to those who care enough to sit in their homes and drink coffee, create jobs, and speak up on their behalf. It may be building Christian schools so that the poor can receive a quality education in a loving environment. It is time some of us break out of our bubble of affluence and expose ourselves to the sufferings of the poor.

You sin if you remain silent over those who are defenseless. The Bible says, "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world" (James 1:27).

Recently someone came to me for advice in starting a new position. He wanted to know how he could set himself apart and make himself a valuable team member. I loved the question. It shows intentionality and purpose. I decided not to give him just a few suggestions, but to give him a dozen.

Here are 12 ways to make yourself valuable as a team member:

Be an encourager of others on the team

Embrace change willingly

Remain positive when others are negative

Laugh deep and smile often

Value other people's opinions

Remain steadfast to vision and values

Be flexible with methods

Genuinely love people

Give more than required

Think critically for improvement

Have a servant's heart

Never gossip or talk bad about another team member

Thanks, great list. Love that you included "Be flexible with methods" that is a huge stumbling block that causes adversity in teams. We have to be aware of that, being wise to the enemies tactics! I would add: Live truly, speak truly, deal truly with EVERY member of the team making titles invisible and treating people equally as God does. This fosters a strong unity.
