Isaiah 40:28-31

Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding.29 He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.30 Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. 31 But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

Verse Of The Day@biblegateway.com

1 Peter 2:24 NIV "He himself bore our sins" in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; "by his wounds you have been healed."

Thoughts From Listening To 1 Peter 2:

Rid yourself of all malice, deceit, hypocrisy… crave pure spiritual milk… grow up in your salvation. Taste that the Lord is good. Living Stone- Rejected by men… we also are being built into a spiritual house. Acceptable to God. A chosen precious cornerstone the one who trust in Him will not have shame. We believe Jesus is precious - Believe in Him, do not stumble because you disobey Him, we are destined for the message of the Gospel. We belong to God, we declare the praises of God Who called us out of darkness to His Light… We have received Mercy from God. Abstain from desires that war against your soul. Good deeds glorify God. Submit yourself to every authority for God's sake. God sets up authority, so we are obeying Him Silence the ignorant talk of evil men, ignorant men. Show respect to everyone…. Fear God… show respect to those in the Christian family. Unjust suffering can be born as we are conscious of God. Suffer for being good and endure it, this pleases God because Jesus suffered for us, leaving us an example to follow in His steps. He did not retaliate insults, suffered with no threats, entrusted himself to God. Bear the pain of unjust suffering because you are conscious of God. God suffered, follow His steps. No deceit was found in His mouth. He entrusted Himself to AWE-GOD Who judges justly. By His wounds we have been healed. We were like sheep going astaray but now we belong to the overseer of our souls…

Psalm 68: 9 You gave abundant showers, O God; you refreshed your weary inheritance. Lord God refresh us today, shower us with Your Holy Spirit and Truth!

"Do as thou hast said."

"2 Samuel 7:25 And now, LORD God, keep forever the promise you have made concerning your servant and his house. Do as you promised,

God's promises were never meant to be thrown aside as waste paper; he intended that they should be used. God's gold is not miser's money, but is minted to be traded with. Nothing pleases our Lord better than to see his promises put in circulation; he loves to see his children bring them up to him, and say, "Lord, do as thou hast said."

We glorify God when we plead his promises. Do you think that God will be any the poorer for giving you the riches he has promised? Do you dream that he will be any the less holy for giving holiness to you? Do you imagine he will be any the less pure for washing you from your sins? He has said "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool." Faith lays hold upon the promise of pardon, and it does not delay, saying, "This is a precious promise, I wonder if it be true?" but it goes straight to the throne with it, and pleads, "Lord, here is the promise, Do as thou hast said.'" Our Lord replies, "Be it unto thee even as thou wilt." When a Christian grasps a promise, if he does not take it to God, he dishonours him; but when he hastens to the throne of grace, and cries, "Lord, I have nothing to recommend me but this, Thou hast said it;'" then his desire shall be granted. Our heavenly Banker delights to cash his own notes. Never let the promise rust. Draw the sword of promise out of its scabbard, and use it with holy violence. Think not that God will be troubled by your importunately reminding him of his promises. He loves to hear the loud outcries of needy souls. It is his delight to bestow favours. He is more ready to hear than you are to ask. The sun is not weary of shining, nor the fountain of flowing. It is God's nature to keep his promises; therefore go at once to the throne with "Do as thou hast said."

leadership wisdom from Ron edmondston blog

I was in a church recently that struggles with disunity. The pastor has a great vision and is supported by most everyone, but the church has two dominant factions, mostly split over a denominational issue. In working with the church, I quickly assessed they had a unity problem. I felt like a genius consultant, but the truth is I only discovered what they already knew.

The problem wasn't discovering the problem, it was in finding solutions. The church needs to come together if they hope to move forward and complete all the opportunities God is sending their way.

How do you create unity in a church?

Here are 7 thoughts on creating unity:

Avoid the core DNA when making changes – There are some things that are not worth changing; especially until unity returns. It makes no sense to create further disunity in an area where the church is already unified. For example, if the church is overwhelmingly supportive of Sunday school, but you are a proponent of small groups, don't try to make that change now (if ever) until unity is achieved.

Find common ground – What do people agree upon? Again, maybe its Sunday school, but perhaps it's reaching the community's lower income families. It could be a ministry of adoption or homelessness. There are probably numerous ministries or interests within the church about which everyone is passionate. Find some and pour energy into them. The more of these you can identify and rally people around, the more unified the church will become.

Plan group activities – This can be an ice cream social or a ministry opportunity to one of the common issues, but it should be something that will involve people from both sides of the divide. It would be best if you could get someone from each faction to the planning table for these events. Most likely there are some who, though they have chosen a "side" to support, are mature enough that they can work with someone of a different opinion to plan a function.

Celebrate success – Something about celebrating brings people together. Find small wins and celebrate them. Celebrate the things that people agree upon. Often this will be the history of the church or the heart the church has for missions or ministry.

Challenge the few objectors – There are usually a few people who are naturally divisive. This number is usually smaller than it appears, but these people are critical of everything and usually bring down the morale of others and the church. You may have to pull them aside, ask them to cooperate, and, if they will not, work to remove them from power. (This is obviously the subject of another blog post, but a necessary part of creating unity.) The unity and vision of the church is more important than appeasing those whose only mission is to disrupt.

Embrace the influencers – Just as there are a few who are negative, there are usually a few who are positive about unity and who have influence over others. I believe in the "each one reach one" practice. Spend time with these influencers, help them understand the importance of unity, then encourage and release them to help shape an atmosphere and culture of unity, one person at a time. Keep these natural influencers and encouragers close and informed and empower them to help create unity.

Communicate effectively – Communication is always important, but especially during times of disunity that information flow freely. When people don't have information, they assume you are keeping it from them intentionally. Keep people informed and they feel more like they are part of the team and the vision.

Obviously every situation is unique. Don't be ashamed to seek outside help. Creating unity takes time. Keep in mind that the process involves relationships, so it can be messy. Unity will likely involve people granting forgiveness and releasing the right to have things their way. Depending on the severity of the division in the church, these issues should certainly be shaping your teaching during this time. It may be subtle or more direct, but certainly deliberate.

Finally, for an illustration purpose, you might treat the process as you would if you were counseling a couple, only on a larger scale, of course. Identifying the underlying problems and offering small, steady steps to improving the relationships before you address the issues of division will help create unity.

What suggestions do you have for creating unity?

My Thoughts About This = Miraculous Musings! J

Very good! Thanks! My favorite one, and they all were good, but my favorite was embrace the influencers! Very cool! Only suggestion might be:

Agree to disagree. It is okay to have an opinion, we all have them because that is our human condition! It is not okay to hold on to our "rights" to be opinionated and our opinion always right. Jesus did not! He did not hold on to His "rights" so that we could be unified with God. Setting an atmosphere where opinions can be shared safely is an atmosphere where "rights" are laid down and unity in Christ is lifted up. Kind of reminds me of the cross. Oh what a sacrifice of rights, Oh what an atmosphere of agreeing to disagree. Jesus agreed to give His life; He was conflicted with the way to unity as He struggled through in the garden and gave way to the Father God. Sometimes we will not agree with the way someone proposes, it is a viable way to complete the mission, but we think our way is a better way. Agreeing to disagree lets the mission grow forward, may be not in the way we would like, but it feeds the unity and unity in the Bride of Christ is always the way to God's Favor! Disunity damns up the Favor of God! Let go of your rights, agree to disagree and unify! Followship Jesus!

A Minute With Maxwell

Desire! If a person has future for development and potential in their lives, they are not satisfied with what they are doing in their lives, they want to grow more. Capped off in satisfaction is the non growing zone, having desire to be better is the growth zone. Passion and desire says I am not yet all what I want to be.

My Thoughts About This = Miraculous Musings! J

Desire! Either we are going to just go through life or we are going to "grow through" life. I think the measure of our desire is found in between doing and being. The desire within me is to grow, grow and grow some more, never stop growing, never stop learning and changing, becoming more and more like the Jesus I love soooooooooooooo much! This is my desire, to be like HIM and to be growing continually towards being ALL-IN with the Kingdom He rules, the dominion He leads! The desire wells up in me constantly from every moment to every choice to be right in there with God's kingdom purposes in play all around me. It is my huge hope, my desires are never satiated, when it comes to living from moment to choice, making the right choice the 1st time, pleasing my AWE-GOD!

We Not Me

"Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it." 1 Corinthians 12:27

There is a larger context to life than just living for self. A self-focused life is chronically frustrated and is unable to reach its full potential. Its demanding demur marginalizes wise counsel and only attracts insecure individuals. However, those who pray for what's best for the whole, become whole. Everyone is honored in an environment where individual contributions are valued. "We not me" is the vocabulary of those who honor each other.
Every disciple is stronger when they are connected to other Christ followers. Isolation contributes to spiritual impotence, but community gives spiritual life. Encouragement and accountability are exalted in relationships that serve what's best for the group. A leader who serves the team, sees other team members serve well. A man who serves his family, experiences a family that serves each other. "We overcomes me" with unselfish service.
"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms." 1 Peter 4:10
Our spiritual birth engrafted us as a member of Christ's body. We cannot detach an appendage of the Lord's, anymore than a member of our physical body can be disassociated from the other body parts. So, we pray for those around us who know Christ and we get to know each other. Oh the joy of being known and knowing others who love Him! Life that is truly life is lived in the margins with those submitted to our Savior Jesus.
Are you motivated first by "He", second by "we" and lastly by "me"? If so, you are set up for relational fulfillment. The sequence for successful thinking is Him, them and you. "Me" will try to squeeze in and monopolize relationships, cannibalize conversations and hijack heaven's agenda. Thus, by God's grace, put to death the "me monster" and replace it with love for the Lord and people. "We not me" is the motto of mature Jesus followers.
"Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law." Romans 13:8
Prayer: Lord, whose needs can I put ahead of mine through my prayers and service?
